Darwin Festival Photo Gallery: SANTOS Opening Concert ft. Thelma Plum + Clare Bowditch + Emma Donovan + Caiti Baker (06.08.15)

The 2015 Darwin Festival kicked off with a huge night of gorgeous Australian female singer/songwriters at the Darwin Amphitheatre! Music lovers rejoice the ladies are on point for live music, exceptional songwriting and cheeky mid-song banter. Performances from Thelma Plum, Clare Bowditch, Emma Donovan and The Putbacks and a special performance from Caiti Baker from Sietta. The Darwin crowd enjoyed a glorious evening of music under the stars in perfect Top End weather (sorry, not sorry Southerners in winter time). Check out the photos from Amy Hetherington.

While us Southerners continue to freeze our way through the final bits of winter, our mates up in the north battle with the dry season conditions that are envied by the rest of us. We recently reconnected with Darwin hip-hop artist Requiem on our recent trip to the NT, where he's been busily working on the release and promotion of his debut album Louvres - ahead of his launch gig at the Darwin Festival this weekend, Requiem has gone through his music library and sourced us his top ten tunes to bump when looking to kick back and chill.

Joelistics announces 'Blue Volume' tour dates for October and November!

The ever talented Joelistics is going out on tour this October to support the release of the anticipated and already highly praised album Blue Volume! What is possibly his most personal and candid record to date, Joelistics has really bared all with his latest musical offering and it's time people were able to see it translated to full effect on live stages. Darwin Festival was treated to an intimate glimpse into the stories behind some of Joelistics and Sietta's most popular tracks in the aptly titled - In Between Sounds at Darwin Festival. Chinese-Australian MC and spoken word artist Joelistics (aka Joel Ma of TZU) and Filipino-Dutch-Australian producer/songwriter James Mangohig of Sietta combined with powerhouse vocalist Caiti Baker (Sietta) and the smooth-as DJ Soup for an epic show at The Lighthouse.

New Music Video: Sietta "Carry" (2014)

Darwin's electro-soul mavericks Sietta have released a stunning film clip for their track "Carry", featured on their sophomore album The Invisible River. The song, which has a striking message behind it, has brilliantly realised by director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore and dancers Travers Ross & Yukino McHugh. Featuring guest vocals from 5ths (aka Count Bounce), "Carry" is a sophisticated and great cut from The Invisible River, out now through Elefant Traks.

NT's legendary Saltwater Band reforms for Barunga Festival!

The Barunga community welcomes you to the 29th year of the largest Indigenous community festival in the country, the Barunga Festival (June 6 - 9, 2014). Saltwater Band, one of Australia's most acclaimed Indigenous bands, have announced recently that they are re-forming for a special one-off show at this festival along with Tjintu Desert Band, Ali Mills, Sietta and many more acts along with more features of music, culture and sport. It's sure to be a fantastic and culturally rich four days.

Sietta announce Australian tour

Darwin alt-soul duo Sietta are going on the road to promote their acclaimed second album The Invisible River. Already having played a show in their home city, the tour continues in Brisbane, then visits almost every state (sorry WA) before finishing in Hobart.

In This Issue: A seriously mixed bag this week. Big artists like Conor Oberst and Ozomatli are back with records coming out in the next couple of months. Melbourne also is represented by Courtney Barnett and Saskwatch both releasing albums soon. Sydney gets Infinity Broke and newbie's DMA's, and Darwin has electronic soul duo Sietta. Overseas, The Pretty Reckless are doing all they can to make waves, and Golden State are releasing their debut. It's an interesting week, so go on, have a read.

The need for a bigger space for the third El Grande Festival is solved. Get ready to enjoy a day of rock, roots and hip-hop on two big stages. Luckily there is more room for there will be more people once the word has been spread that Dead Letter Circus is set to headline the event.

With additional headlines and frontrunning bands still to be announced, CMW (Canadian Music Week) has reveal a great mix of Canadian locals and international visitors who are set to perform in Toronto this May. There are a great round of Australians headed over, including Elizabeth Rose, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Oscar Key Sung, who were recently announced alongside the likes of M.I.A, City and Colour and Tegan and Sara.
