SEBASTIAN

Album Reviews: Ed Banger Records - Ed Rec. Vol X (2013 LP)

Ed Banger Records - Ed Rec. Vol X (2013 LP)

“French electronica” is a phrase I have used on various occasions to sway friends towards seeing various acts on festival line-up and it has rarely ever failed. This is because the French have consistently produced and exported exciting and progressive electronic music for years whether it be Daft Punk, Air or M83 such artists have always led at the forefront.

Parklife Festival - Kippax Lake, Moore Park (02.10.11)

Wow. The weather gods do NOT like Parklife. Is it just me or does it rain on the first Sunday of every October? Though we avoided a torrential downpour, the rain did little to stop the punters from jumping in the mud - and the extreme cold did little to stop the rest from taking off their shirts and wearing painfully short skirts. I guess you have to admire their conviction to adhere to whatever this festival mentality is... But I digress. Onto the music!

SebastiAn - Total (2011 LP)

It surprised me a bit that this is the masterful SebastiAn’s debut album – some of his older productions like the chaotic “Ross Ross Ross” have been popular in nightclubs around the world for quite a few years. None the less, SebastiAn’s Total is here and it does its best to fill the void left by the fact that we haven’t really gotten many big French-electro releases since Justice’s Cross in 2007.
