Last Week on Late Night: The Five Best Music Performances on US Late Night TV by

US late night talk shows are a showcase of all-things celebrity, politics, humor, comedy and music. They are often treated as the final thing we see before we go to sleep. With The Late Show with Stephen Colbert debuting in the same 11:30pm slot opposite Kimmel and Fallon – all shows were keen to pull out the big guns in the hope of attracting/retaining viewers. Our own talk show fiend Lachlan scours the masses of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Late Night with Seth Meyers, Conan and now The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and brings us the second list of the top 5 standout music performances from US late night talk shows of last week!

Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul release posse cut "Vice City"

Jay Rock is getting ready to unleash 90059 any day now, and to signal it's imminence a video has been released for "Vice City", a track hooking Rock up with his fellow Black Hippy emcees, Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. The bass-heavy posse track has all four emcees using the same flow, mirroring each other and bringing their own styles over the banging production. Watch the video below.

While us Southerners continue to freeze our way through the final bits of winter, our mates up in the north battle with the dry season conditions that are envied by the rest of us. We recently reconnected with Darwin hip-hop artist Requiem on our recent trip to the NT, where he's been busily working on the release and promotion of his debut album Louvres - ahead of his launch gig at the Darwin Festival this weekend, Requiem has gone through his music library and sourced us his top ten tunes to bump when looking to kick back and chill.

Single of the Day: A$AP Rocky Feat. ScHoolboy Q "Electric Body" (2015)

East Coast rap giant A$AP Rocky is almost ready to unleash his sophomore album, At.Long.Last.A$AP, and has already pushed several tracks out to the world. We've already heard impressive sounds like "L$D" and "Beef" but this one just about takes the cake. "Electric Body" with the equally unstoppable ScHoolboy Q is an exciting display from both artists as they ride over a constantly evolving production. DJ Envy pops up every now and again to remind us that this is a leak.

Album Review: Tyler the Creator - Cherry Bomb (2015 LP)

Tyler the Creator’s latest album Cherry Bomb has sorely mistaken anyone who discarded him as ‘just another young rapper’. 24-year-old Tyler is the leader of hip-hop crew Odd Future that boasts the success of names like Frank Ocean and Earl Sweatshirt. The crew are known for pushing boundaries, and Tyler’s third solo album is no different. It is heavily influenced by rock, soul and hip-hop and a stark contrast to his previous records Wolf and Goblin. Cherry Bomb features brass, strings and soulful female vocals, but there are still hard-hitting distorted synths that are an integral part of Tyler’s sound.

Festival Review: Listen Out - Ozone Reserve, Perth (28.09.14)

When Fuzzy promotions first announced a new boutique EDM festival was to be replacing Parklife, my stomach sank with dismay. Parklife had given the fondest memories and still sits in my heart as being my favourite festival experience. Yet walking up to the gates of Listen Out I was filled with excitement, the bill held some damn decent names, the rain had mostly held off, and I knew within seconds it still boasted that same indescribable atmosphere as its predecessor.

Festival Review: Listen Out - Centennial Park, Sydney (27.09.14)

After a successful first year, Fuzzy's Listen Out continues to put forth the case for festival down-sizing, standing with just three stages and a cleverly curated line up to ensure that we got just as much variety as a more excessive festival. A bit more niche and thoughtful in it's structure, the day played out with very few hiccups and once again focused on quality over quantity, exposing the direction of the summer festival season and the styles which are getting the most shine this year.

Our top 10 hip-hop albums of far.

July marks a fairly lukewarm six months for hip-hop, outside of the bottom 10 albums. While there has been a lot of average projects and lazy comebacks to sift through, we have managed to emerge with a top 10 we think accurately captures the best in hip-hop of far. Albums released after July 1st 2014 have not been included.

Live Review: ScHoolboy Q - The HiFi, Brisbane (07.06.14)

With three sold out shows across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, ScHoolboy Q - member of acclaimed rap supergroup Black Hippy - brought his major-label debut down under over the weekend, with label-mate Isaiah Rashad along for support. YAWK YAWK YAWK.

The LA based RCA Records artist performed a number of shows during the closing weekend of the festival; with her latest single "2 On", featuring fellow SXSW hotshot ScHoolboy Q, doing all the good things (even more so now the film clip is out - check it out below), Tinashe has a lot to be smiling about.
