Claire Birchall plays a Public Bar Australia Day Show!

Thursday night saw The Bakery open its doors to the public for Jumpclimb’s WAMi Showcase, the fourth in a series of showcases highlighting the breadth and variety of the West Australian music scene.

Saturday Night saw Fat Shans Music playing host to one of the most talented people I have ever met. Sam Perry was releasing his new single "The World Won't Wait" to a small but very appreciative audience who crowed into the local treasure trove that is Fat Shans Music.

Sunday night at The Bakery saw the chaps from Fat Shans launch Perth’s newest record label to an enthusiastic crowd. Less than a year into their existence they have expanded from record store to a recording studio for hire and now to record label. They have certainly been popping up all over the place since their inception, with residencies at the Norfolk Basement; pop-up stalls at a variety of gigs not to mention their own intimate soirees on the last Friday of every month.

To help the Rosemount Hotel celebrate its annual Mayday gig, Malaysian glam pop princess Ze! rocked up with a few of her mates to pop some balloons, shake some booty, and generally dance the roof off the place.
First up was Sam Perry (who deservedly received a nomination for best Newcomer in this year’s WAMi’s) and his own brand of live effected microphone looping.
