Feature: Five emerging artists from Brisbane you need to have in your life right now

There's nothing better than discovering a band before they break into the market. You get to see them earn their chops while you stand front and centre, learning every song and becoming one of their first fans. But sometimes it helps to have an idea about where to look! This week on the AU we'll be traversing the country and bringing you some of our favourite new discoveries in the local scene. We move onto Brisbane today, where these five artists, in no particular order, call home:

Farmer and The Owl Festival Announce Lineup, Food and Arts Additions!

There’s only just under a month to go before Farmer & The Owl kicks off and it just keeps getting bigger with new music, food and arts additions. The Wollongong festival is already hosting the likes of DZ Deathrays, Bad//Dreems and Jebediah amongst many more, and have now announced that Velociraptor, Rolls Bayce, Jeremy Neale, Parkside + Friends, SPACE 44 DJs, Blackbear, Honeybear, Berko (FBi), Vintage Stylus DJs and Music Farmers DJs will also be joining.

Brisbane's Rolls Bayce announce National Tour through March and April

Brisbane three piece Rolls Bayce are hitting the road at last. Even with the golden seal of approval from NME and Rolling Stone, it is still a phenomenal feat for the band to have been booked for the UK's The Great Escape Festival in May before ever embarking on a headline tour of Australia, but Rolls Bayce would not be so inconsiderate as to jet off to the northern hemisphere without some Aussie loving, so they will be headlining shows in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Wollongong across February, March and April. The dates are here:

Impressive list of Australian artists including APES & REMi UK-bound for The Great Escape!

For many bands around the world, earning a spot on The Great Escape Festival in the UK means a great deal - you've got a huge load of exposure, the potential to discover new bands and of course, the opportunity to be discovered. In its 10th year in 2015, the Brighton-based festival releases a stellar line up of bands from around the globe, all set to descend on the site in May for what is touted as Europe's leading festival for new music.

Album Review: Rolls Bayce - Self Titled (2014 EP)

There's a bit of excitement around Rolls Bayce at the moment, which is understandable, what with ex-members of Hungry Kids Of Hungary and Millions making up their members, as well as a handful of catchy psych-pop tracks making up their live sets.

Single Stream: Rolls Bayce "On My Own" (2014)

Aussie trios seem to be pretty good at what they do. Think about it – The Living End, COG, Zoot, Birtles Shorrock and Goble – just to name a few. And now, you can add Rolls Bayce to that list. This is the second track released from their upcoming EP – and we’re pretty sure it’s kinda awesome. Check it out, right here.

Album News Weekly: 29 October 2014

In This Issue: November is set to be a massive month on the Austrlian Music calender as always, and here are just a few of the records you can expect. This week sees Pepa Knight releasing his solo work, David Guetta throwing out some more club hits, and The Bennies releasing an EP because they can!

Festival Review: The Blurst of Times - The Factory Theatre, Sydney (25.10.14)

Guitars and subverted Simpsons t-shirts ruled Blurst of Times' Sydney debut. Its debut went off without a major hitch, even with some last minute timetable shuffling to adjust to. With The Factory Theatre proving to be a perfect space for the event, triumphing over the aural assault that marred OutsideIn last year. This was accomplished without actually putting the Factory Theatre stage to use, utilizing the smaller Fusebox and Factory Floor stages, and the smart move of setting up a main stage outside. Pushing revelries out in to the open air and giving itself a true festival atmosphere.

the AU inteview at BIGSOUND: Dean and James of Rolls Bayce (Brisbane)

Larry sat down with Dean and James of Rolls Bayce at BIGSOUND earlier this month where they spoke about the band's formation, their sound, getting plugged in NME, an upcoming EP release and Australian tour. Watch the two part interview here:

Festival Review: BIGSOUND Live - Night One, Part One ft. Mosman Alder + Okenyo + Little Odessa + Rolls Bayce + more... (10.09.14)

BIGSOUND Live is always a great opportunity to catch some of the best bands in the business while also discovering new favourite acts you didn’t even realise exist! It is such a vibrant event full of networking and all round joy.
