Out on the Weekend is a new destination event for Melbourne, introducing a celebration of Americana music, great food and fine booze on the water Seaworks, Williamstown. Love Police stated, "Ever since my first concert at the Wandong Country Music Festival in the mid 70’s, I have had a fascination with the country sounds, the roots of it all, let’s just call it Americana music. Over the years I’ve had the good fortune to work with some great talent in this field like Gillian Welch, Old Crow Medicine Show and a load more. I’ve always tried to bring the best of what I see, hear and discover to our fine shores for us all to experience the good shit".

Live Review: Justin Townes Earle + Robert Ellis - Annandale Hotel (10.02.13)

Even though I spent quite a bit of time growing up in the US, American Country music was never something I was raised with. In fact, with the more generic of the genre being all I was exposed to, I did my best to avoid it entirely. It's only been in recent years through events like Bluesfest that I have discovered the various types of Country music that are out there - the non-commercial, non-generic music that evokes music straight from the soul, both lyrically and instrumentally.
