RIDE INTO THE SUN

Live Review: Stonefield + Ride Into The Sun - The Gov, Adelaide (01.05.14)

About a year ago my friend dragged me along to see the all-girl rock group Stonefield, and I am so glad he did. It was a revelation to see such a clean and pure rock act in an age of pop. Since then, the four Findlay sisters from country Victoria have gone from strength to strength, recently releasing their debut, self-titled LP as well as embarking upon a seemingly endless tour around the country. This week, that road returned them to Adelaide.

The Brooklyn based band A Place to Bury Strangers bought their experimental shoe-gaze sound and visuals to Jive Bar. This is not so much a band that you just watch, but get drawn into the lights from nine projectors and a wall of sound. Supported by Adelaide bands Ride into the Sun and Damned Men. Our photographer John Goodridge brings some photos from the night.

Photo Gallery: Big Day Out - Adelaide (03.02.12)

Attendance at the Adelaide Big Day Out was way down this year, but the enthusiasm level of the crowd was high. A scaled down show, minus the eastern states headliner Kayne West and one main stage gave this festival a more intimate feel. Between the main stage and the Guvera skate stage, Legends of Vert performed on the half pipe skate ramp. Perfect weather for an enjoyable day of music.

the AU interview: Ride Into The Sun (Adelaide)

The hardest thing to do as a young band in Australia is to persuade prospective fans that you offer something innovative. Either musically, aesthetically or ideologically, the bands that don’t fulfill the criteria for success often fail because they mire themselves in self-definition without ever really arriving at a satisfying conclusion.
