Live Review: Perth Big Day Out - Claremont Showgrounds (28.01.13)

Big Day Out 2013

The Perth Big Day Out returned to its rightful home at the Claremont Showgrounds this year, but not without controversy. Council threats seemed a daily occurrence leading up to the festival, and compromise was inevitable for the event to go ahead. The resultant early end time of 10pm didn’t put any music lovers off though, as 35,000 were in attendance, and the diverse and distinguished lineup made every minute count. A great day for sun, sound and short shorts.

Live Review: Big Day Out - Flemington Racecourse (26.01.13)

Boasting names such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Animal Collective and Foals it was clear that the Big Day Out had bounced back from the bad run it had last year where half the tour got truncated versions of the event. This year, every show boasted the full lineup which was promising for the future of the event given the recent hurdles it has had to overcome.

Festival Review: Big Day Out - Royal Adelaide Showgrounds (25.01.13)

There was a definite change of mood about the Showgrounds this year. It’s obvious upon one’s first scout about the festival site that the Big Day Out just doesn’t function properly in the stripped back capacity it did last year. With both main stages back in action, the El Jimador wrestling ring and Chow Town being new shiny drawcards for punters and the sheer force of the line-up this year, the Big Day Out experience people will buy tickets for actually seemed to be in operation for this, the 2013 edition.

Adelaide turned on some fantastic weather for the 2013 Big Day Out. With another amazing line-up this year, the fans enjoyed a day of great music and the AU review's photographer, Kerrie Geier, was there to capture it all.

Festival Review: Big Day Out - Gold Coast Parklands (20.01.13)

So, let it be known that I until this day was a Big Day Out virgin and might I say, what a ride! The day started slow and steady and ramped up for one big party at the main stages.

I’m With You, an Australian tour edition and tenth album released by the iconic Red Hot Chili Peppers will meet expectations. The album is really easy listening and will definitely satisfy fans who have been waiting for this album since Stadium Arcadium was released in 2006.

Big Day Out 2013 unleash a massive lineup headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers!

Big Day Out! The 2013 iteration of the festival is back and seemingly larger than ever, with a knockout lineup (announced earlier than ever before) including the already leaked (see video below), but exciting premise of the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlining, as well as other massive names including The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Foals and Against Me!! There's also a few wildcard additions on the bill that are still pants-tighteningly tantalizing, including Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses and Animal Collective as well as first-time Australia visitors Alabama Shakes (AMAZING!!!), Childish Gambino and Gary Clark Jr. It should be an interesting (big) day indeed...
