
Chief editor Larry Heath caught up with Joe Franklin and Tina Stefanou of Melbourne based band Planet Love Sound to talk about their pending short film release, the creative process and doing things to please yourself.

It’s incredibly sad to see the Phoenix Public House closing its doors this week. The venue quickly established itself as a powerhouse of live music in the north and in its short life span has played host to a plethora of amazing gigs and has been responsible for many raucous nights, bad dancing, painful hangovers and endless random bruises. Thanks for the good times Paris Martine & Co. Sydney Rd will not be the same without you.


Brimming with a genuine passion for independent Australian artists, MusicOZ Awards are moving from strength to strength. Held this year at the Sydney Opera House, the awards night played host to a wonderfully vast caliber of speakers and performers, rendering the night anything but predictable – and a far cry from being dull or overly formal.

Gyroscope to play benefit show
The Perth band will return home in a benefit gig and playing headline in their hometown for the first time in 2012. The show will be for Dana Vulin, 26 year old burn victim from Perth who was horrifically set alight in her own home by an intruder. Dana is also the band’s guitarist, Zoran Trivic’s cousin and the show will raise much needed funds for medical treatment. All proceeds to be donated to the FOUNDATION FOR DANA VULIN.

Melbourne's Planet Love Sound have been doing great things overseas; for the past two years, the trio have been living in Berlin, producing two EPs and supporting some of the hottest acts, including Warpaint, Karen Elson and Holy F#@k. On their return to Melbourne, the band are bringing a brand new single entitled "My Shadow", featured on their current EP, Part 1.

Brisbane troubadour Timothy Carroll is home from his Swedish sojourn for a brief visit. The faithful came out on a school night for an intimate show at the Beetle Bar.
