Photo Gallery: Soundwave Festival - Bonython Park, Adelaide (01.03.14)

The Soundwave juggernaut descended upon Adelaide over the weekend. With seven stages and over eighty acts, there was so much music to take in. Our photographer John Goodridge was there and delivers this taste of what what was on offer.

Festival Review: Soundwave - Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne (28.02.14)

Much of the music being played at Soundwave was something that did not say "tepid". It sure was hard, fast, strong, and at times, weird. Everything that happened at this festival was metaphorically going straight into the depths of the audience’s chests, whether they liked it or not.

Festival Review: Soundwave - Bonython Park, Adelaide (01.03.14)

By the time Soundwave put up stops in Adelaide for another year, I'll admit that I was struggling. Falling on the 1st of March, the largest touring festival in the country aptly kicks off 'March Madness' for the Festival State and by this stage, myself and a lot of other Adelaideans have had shows thrown at us from every which way possible through the first two months of the year. It's sunny, there's a cool breeze and god damn it, I wanted some good live tunes because fuck it, I'm a sucker for it, so off I went down to Bonython Park for the second time in just over a month.

The Cat Empire and John Butler Trio announced with Biffy Clyro and Massive Attack for the Gurten Festival!

If someone could grab us tickets to this one, that'd be great. We'd love to visit Switzerland. The final artist lineup for the Gurten Festival in Bern has been announced, with Aussies The Cat Empire and the John Butler Trio set to perform alongside some of the world's best over the four day party.

Live Review: Placebo + Little Scout - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (24.02.14)

22 songs spanning Placebo’s impressive 18 year career was a special gift we received simply by attending this exceptional sidewave concert at the Enmore Theatre. And quite honestly, I didn’t expect to be blown away as much as I was; despite me having seen them before, and me knowing just how damn good they can be live.

Placebo played a very special, intimate "Sold Out" show for their Sydney Sidewave last night, supported by Little Scout. Photography by Pete Dovgan.

10 Bands You Can't Miss At Soundwave Festival 2014

God damn, I love this time of year. It's festival season and with Soundwave approaching, metal, punk and hardcore lovers should be waking in wet patches. The Soundwave crew has compiled another epic line-up and if you can't find 10 bands that blow your mind at this festival, I'm sorry to break it to you but your mum lied, you're a loser.

Placebo set for Soundwave sideshows in February!

These shows are going to be GOOD - Placebo one of the many great acts on this year's Soundwave lineup have announced that they will be performing two exclusive and intimate headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Bringing their latest record Loud Like Love through as well as all the hits, Placebo will take on the Enmore Theatre in Sydney and treat Melbourne punters of a gig of their own at the Palais Threatre next month.

Album Review: Placebo - Loud Like Love (2013 LP)

It’s been awhile since we’ve heard any melancholic tunes from Placebo, so Loud Like Love comes as a welcome treat. I for one, have missed Brian Molko’s voice, and having some new Placebo to listen to is great.

Feature: Big Day Out 2014 Lineup Speculation - Part Two

With Splendour in the Grass safely in the bag for another year, our festival-wearied eyes now turn back to the Big Day Out, whose lineup for 2014 is set to be officially released this week. Touted as a 'lineup to top all Big Day Out lineups', rumours have been flying around quicker than Nui Te Koha at Triple M can break 'exclusive' lineup news. As July 31st nears, we've got some more predictions ready to fuel the gossip fire, having taken another look at le internets and following on from many-an indepth discussion on wishlists and logical tour schedules...

Album Review: Placebo - B3 (2012 EP)

It has been over three years since Placebo's last studio album Battle for the Sun, but don’t let this void worry you. Their new EP, B3, builds on the cleaner, yet noticeably heavier, aesthetic of the 2009 album, momentarily returning the London trio to their grunge roots, while also reviving some of their typically moody awkwardness.
