It's not surprising that when the tickets went on sale for Nick Cave's solo Australian tour some months ago, they sold out all over the place. The prolific Australian performer has stuck out as a revered and favoured artist the world over, regardless of what band or project he's performed with, and so when it was announced that Cave would be taking to a run of smaller theatre venues across the country - fans primed themselves to pounce on that opportunity. Joined on stage by Bad Seeds members Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey, Barry Adamson and Thomas Wydler, Cave performed his first of two shows in Adelaide overnight at the famous Festival Theatre and well, he didn't disappoint.

Winners and more nominees for the 2014 ARIA Awards were announced at the official event in Sydney this morning, with some of Australia's best performers and their teams recognised for their work over the past year. The winners of the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards were announced at the event, with the slew of nominees for the November ARIAs unveiled. the AU congratulates all involved - there have been some truly stellar records produced over the past year, as well as the development of some great live bands who are getting just recognition!

Nick Cave sells out more shows, announces 'special' tour musicians for Australia/NZ tour!

When Nick Cave takes to stages in Australia and New Zealand at the end of this year, it's pretty much a guarantee that emotions are going to be running high. The legendary artist is set to perform a run of intimate solo shows around the country and over the pond through November and December and today, one more Melbourne show has been announced while more are now officially sold out! What's more, the names of the musicians set to join Cave's ensemble for these show have also been revealed and...well, if you're a Bad Seeds fan, this is a good afternoon indeed.

Nick Cave is set to embark on a run of extremely rare solo shows through November and December! With a small band of musicians behind him, Cave will be covering moments from what has become a significant and renowned catalogue of music, including the latest Bad Seeds record, Push the Sky Away. An amazing opportunity for Cave fans to see the man in a smaller, more intimate setting that last year's epic theatre tour, the following dates are not to be missed.

Nick Cave provides music to new Bulleit Whiskey campaign.

It's not the first time Nick Cave has lent his music as a score, but it's not every day an artist of his calibre supplies it for a commercial. Check out the classy campaign above for a new campaign for Bulleit Whiskey. This isn't an original track however - it's called "Martha's Dream" and was originally used in the soundtrack for The Proposition, for which Cave provided the music with long time collaborator Warren Ellis.

Event Review: BIGSOUND Day One (10.09.13)

The official start of BIGSOUND today marked the beginning of the conference, showcases, parties and live music. Now in its 12th year, BIGSOUND 2013 has already offered plenty of musical food for thought to delegates who have travelled from all over the country and beyond to meet in Brisbane and 'talk shop.' The highlight of the day's forums and workshops was a keynote speech and Q&A (hosted by Julia Zemiro) with homegrown music legend, Nick Cave, who provided an entertaining insight into the music industry and his career via video link.
