the AU interview: Nantes (Sydney) talk "Limbo" EP, touring and keeping things simple

the AU review had a chat with Sydney band Nantes about their new EP, Limbo, released earlier this year. “This one’s a little more aligned to what we’ve been trying to do with this band.” they said. The EP has been taken in a different direction sonically, but they note that fans enjoy the sound and it has been a good reception. After a year of not knowing what to do with the band, Nantes mention that “this record came as a bit of a surprise. We didn't really intend on making music at all”.

Listen to Nantes' favourite music in this exclusive playlist!

As their new EP Limbo hits shelves, two parts of Sydney group Nantes sat down with AU Radio to share with us some of their favourite music as part of our guest playlist series. Ahead of its premiere on the station later this week, we're excited to bring you their full playlist today - which includes four amazing tracks and one of their own. Listen to it in full here to find out who they chose:

Album Review: Nantes - Limbo (2015 EP)

Sydney act Nantes have been in and around the local music scene for a few years now and are looking to cement their position within the landscape with their new EP Limbo. Far removed from previous releases, Limbo is a much more cohesive record that touches on heavier topics and is both thematically and lyrically much more darker than the group's earlier work.

Album Stream: Nantes "Limbo" (2015 EP)

It’s dark, dynamic and infectiously catchy. Alternative rock band Nantes are back with another addictive EP that’s sure to be on repeat for the rest of the week. Produced in Sydney, mixed in Glasgow and mastered by Frank Arkwright of the famed Abbey Road in London, Limbo is the exceptional product of tireless work.

NANTES announce new single, new mini-album and 'The 7 Tour'

Alt-rock band NANTES are back with a bang, announcing exciting tour news, a new single and a new EP! The 7 Tour will see the outfit play seven shows on the East Coast in support of their new single “7.” NANTES are hitting up a variety of specialty locations including Bondi’s Beach Road Hotel, Rad in Wollongong and Newtown Social Club, among other shows in Melbourne and Brisbane.

DZ Deathrays, Ernest Ellis, Awesome Tapes From Africa and more round out the Secret Garden Festival's lineup!

The sold-out Secret Garden Festival has dropped a second artist announcement that is sure to make people either ecstatic that they snagged tickets or devastated they missed out, one of the two. There's just under a fortnight to go until these bands come together for one hell of a party and considering the initial lineup was already ridiculously good, it's no surprise that the event organisers have gone and upped the ante with this second lot as well.

Album Review: Nantes - Beings Being (2013 LP)

Beings Being

The first we heard from Sydney band Nantes (pronounced N-ar-nts, apparently) was the indie-rock anthem "Fly" and that earworm vocal hook in which David Rogers warmly recites: "It’ll be alright my friend / It’ll be just fine again." This was followed by a self-titled EP, lined with some equally radio-friendly tracks. Yet, now we have a debut full-length: one which is emotive, moody and dotted with fascinatingly bittersweet post-punk.

Album News Weekly: Friday, 22 March 2013

This week sees the announcement of new albums from a huge range of acts. From the well known, highly regarded The National and James Blake, to debut’s from lesser-known locals. Not forgetting the surprising debut release from 80’s film star Molly Ringwald and the highly anticipated debut’s of Major Lazer and Charli XCX. This week has it all, plus much much more!

New Music Video: Nantes "Drones" (2012)

Sydney 'dirty pop' duo Nantes have recently dropped the clip for their single "Drones". Do you remember the days of VCRs and those chunky black things you'd insert into them to watch movies? That's the feel you'd get when watching this video. It's like watching a video on a tape that you've used too many times, so the footage is jumpy and slightly off-hue.

Live Review: Surry Hills Festival - Prince Alfred Park (27.10.12)

Saturday 27th October turned out to be a stunner of a day in Sydney. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and only a few clouds dared to cross the sky throughout the day.

The perfect day had presented itself for the annual Surry Hills Festival in Prince Alfred Park, a festival to raise money for the Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre, which provides community services to the suburb, helping the disadvantaged in the area.
