MS MR talk us through the “Wrong Victory” music video & their plans for 2016

While in Sydney for an unforgettable headline Groovin’ the Moo sideshow, MS MR caught up with Larry for a chat. While the first part of the interview saw Max and Lizzy reflect on their last year or so on the road, here, the band looks ahead to the rest of 2016. Following their Australian tour, MS MR head back to the United States, where they’ll be hitting the road with Bloc Party, before spending some time regrouping and plotting their next steps.

They also chat with us about the music video for their excellent tune “Wrong Victory”, a clip that stands out as one of their favourites yet.

“This was the first video we’d done completely all in-house.” Max explains. “One of our managers, Mafalda Milles, directed it and we wrote the treatment. Basically, we called on favours from all these amazing designers and make up artists and people to come in and work on it. We paid for it all ourselves. It’s such an intimate song and such a personal song, it feels really appropriate that the video is so born from our family.”

“I think also, for us, we’ve always operated in the surreal and the psychological, the seductively grotesque.” Lizzy adds. “I think that’s permeated through all our videos in various forms. I think this one is the most beautiful and high concept of all of them to date. It might be my favourite video we’ve ever made.”
