Festival Review: WOMADELAIDE (Day Two) - Adelaide Botanic Gardens (07.03.15)

WOMADelaide Day Two starts off with some coconut juice and some time out in the sun soaking up the wonderful sounds of Emma Swift and Robyn Hitchcock. I know, I know, it's a hard way to spend a weekend - someone's got to do it though, right?

Opiuo + Spoonbill + The Mollusk + Circuit Bend + Mista Savona + Damn Moroda - Hi Fi Bar, Melbourne (20.08.11)

Standing among the writhing bodies dancing carelessly to the heavy beats, it was hard to believe I wasn’t at a summer festival; this was the pit of the Hi-Fi Bar, swarming with people who would have looked more in place at Rainbow Serpent or a bush doof. Drawing them all to this venue was the event dubbed ‘BADA BOOM!’, featuring an incredible line-up, as far as Australian-made electronic music is concerned.

Dereb the Amabassador + Mista Savona + The Afrobiotics - The Corner Hotel (17.06.2011)

It was clearly going to be a night of so-called ‘world music’, given away by the trail of hippies interspersed with the kind of geeky young men often passionate about so called ‘specialist genres’, you know, the ones who single-mindedly seek out that rare King Tubby 7”, pouring into The Corner.

Whatever the descriptor, the congregated attendees were enthusiastic and joyous from the get-go, ensuring that, even though the venue would be far from full, the wild nature of their dancing filled every available gap.
