Live Review: Rubber Soul Revolver (Beatles Cover Show) - Sydney Opera House (08.08.15)

A melting pot of Australian talent in Husky Gawenda, Fergus Linacre, and Jordie Lane joined forces to perform two Beatles albums - Rubber Soul and Revolver - back to back at the beautiful Sydney Opera House this past weekend, ending what has been a hugely anticipated national tour.

Live Review: Rubber Soul | Revolver - Festival Theatre, Adelaide (02.08.15)

When most people think of The Beatles, the massive hits and albums are likely to come to mind first. Even if you're unsure of what album the songs are featured on, you could probably name one hand some classics. In Rubber Soul and Revolver, the sixth and seventh albums released by The Beatles in the mid-sixties, are some of my favourite Beatles songs - from the lilting "Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)", to "Eleanor Rigby" and of course, "Tomorrow Never Knows", both records signified important stages in The Beatles' career and it's no surprise that they've continued to be revered well into today's music culture.

And just like that, we're knocking on August's door. While we try to wrap out minds around that fact, some kickass bands are getting ready to tear up venues around the joint this weekend. Get out there and support your locals!

Live Review: Marlon Williams - Jive, Adelaide (02.07.15)

The magic Marlon Williams conjures on stage is something I've not seen in a live music environment for quite some time. He comes through Jive, a venue on Adelaide's west end, with an old-timey charm and an alt-country/folk music fusion that sets hearts aflutter before breaking them into tiny pieces with some powerful lyrical storytelling. Yet, in between songs when he's introducing his band, warning the crowd an upcoming guitar solo might not be up to scratch or throwing back to high school days with his band mates, the man who stands before us is a friendly and down to earth 20-something from Lyttelton, New Zealand.

Husky Gawenda, Marlon Williams, Jordie Lane & Kingswood's Fergus Linacre join forces for the 'Rubber Soul Revolver Tour'!

Some of Australia's finest are gearing up to bring two classic albums by The Beatles to life - Rubber Soul and Revolver. The band's sixth and seventh records are set to be given the live treatment by Husky Gawenda, Marlon Williams, Jordie Lane and Kingswood vocalist Fergus Linacre this July and August! Four remarkable and distinctly different voices are set to be supported by a talented cast of musicians in bringing the two albums to stages around the country, performed in their entirety back to back.

New Music Video: Marlon Williams "Dark Child" (2015)

"Dark Child", the lead single taken from Marlon Williams' forthcoming debut album, now has a film clip and well, it's definitely one not to be taken lightly! The track, beautifully brooding and dark and it's visual accompaniment is all types of morbid, odd and darkly humourous.

Live Review: First Aid Kit + Marlon Williams - Metro Theatre, Sydney (29.07.14)

In their first Sydney concert since their much lauded Opera House headline gig of 2012, First Aid Kit have returned to Australia, fresh off the release of their new LP Stay Gold, here as part of the Splendour in the Grass contingency. Tonight's performance at the Metro Theatre may be a bit of a step down from their previous habitat, but the sold out crowd was no less respectful and the concert no less memorable. Well, maybe it is hard to beat a gig at the Opera House, but I digress...
