Maefire on new single “Crawling”, playing Singapore for Music Matters & more!

Melbourne group Maefire have had a hectic 2016 littered with new music releases and impressive shows to boot. While in Singapore for Music Matters last month, the boys sat down with Larry to chat about their experience, new single “Crawling” and more.

Beginning the year with the release of popular single “Without You”, Maefire have been non-stop, continuing to wide that wave of success.

“At the start of the year we put out a single called “Without You” and so we toured that across Australia and it was really successful, we were really surprised and humbled by the support we were able to get from that. I guess it’s just snowballed from there; we’ve been lucky enough to have some people come and help us out and there’s been a bit of exposure we’ve been helped out with. Now, here we are on a different continent! Just lucky, I guess.”

When it’s come to their new single, “Crawling”, the band admit that they feel like the music they’re making now is indeed a development and progression on what fans already know them for, with more piano filtering into the writing sessions and mixing in with their guitar roots.

“It’s a progression for us, maybe even a movement if you will. We were listening to a more broader [range of] music; it’s hard to say, but unfortunately rock and roll just doesn’t cut it on it’s own anymore. We had to introduce new elements. I think we’ve succeeded.”
