Theatre Review: Fiddler on the Roof - Princess Theatre, Melbourne (Performances through 27th February 2016)

Bright flashes beckoned us towards Melbourne’s Princess Theatre on Tuesday night as a myriad of celebrities sashayed along the red carpet. It was the opening night of Fiddler on the Roof and it seemed the entire city had come out to enjoy this long awaited spectacle. Long gowns brushed the floor, and champagne glasses clinked together as air kisses were received in greeting. The bell sounded and we made our way into the dimly lit theatre.

Lior celebrating 10th anniversary of 'Autumn Flow' with national tour dates this October!

It's been 10 years since Lior released the brilliant Autumn Flow record; one that not only brought him to a wider audience, but it was one that also set the standard for some amazing songwriting skills we've seen him build and develop upon over his career since. The talented performer has accomplished a huge amount since his break out on to the scene in 2005 and in celebrating Autumn Flow's 10th birthday, Lior is heading out on a national tour, performing the album in its entirety, as well as a selection of cuts from the rest of his back catalogue.

After having burst onto the Australian music scene in 2005 with his debut album Autumn Flow, Lior has gone on to perform at the likes of the Edinburgh Festival, and has in complete contrast won The Screen Writer Song of the Year Award in 2012 for his song "Lullaby" commissioned by the ABC for the much-loved children's TV show
Giggle and Hoot. We caught up with Lior to talk about the upcoming Kidgeeridge Music Festival, his current tour, inspirations and more. Click through for the full interview...

The night was alight at Sydney’s City Recital Hall this evening, as the annual Light the Night concert celebrated both its tenth birthday and it’s final ever concert with an enthusiastic crowd and a stunning array of performances put on by an amazing lineup of Australian talent.

ARIA Award nominees and Fine Arts winners announced in Sydney today!

Winners and more nominees for the 2014 ARIA Awards were announced at the official event in Sydney this morning, with some of Australia's best performers and their teams recognised for their work over the past year. The winners of the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards were announced at the event, with the slew of nominees for the November ARIAs unveiled. the AU congratulates all involved - there have been some truly stellar records produced over the past year, as well as the development of some great live bands who are getting just recognition!

Lior hitting Australian shores in September!

Lior continues to wind his way around Australian shores, announcing another run of 13 shows throughout Victoria, Queensland and NSW in July and August for newest album Scattered Reflections, which was released in March this year. The tour has already completed an impressive 22 shows around the country, including the famed Womad festival in Adelaide in March.

the AU interview: Lior (Melbourne) talks "Compassion" collaboration with Nigel Westlake!

Adelaide audiences have always welcomed Lior warmly when he's come through town, this much is true. However, on his next trip down this way, the singer songwriter is going to be co-presenting once very special show. "Compassion", the collaboration between himself and Nigel Westlake, will be performed with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, following on from successful performances in Sydney and Perth. A project that was spawned from darker times now has become an extended piece form its original form, "Compassion" truly has taken on a life of its own, according to Lior.

In This Issue: Check it indie fans, Foster The People have finally announced the release date of their new LP! It's one of the most anticipated records of the year, so get on it. Also Lior is back with a new album, as well as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. There's also stuff from Sam Smith, Paloma Faith and a newbie in the shape of Lyla Foy. 2014 is only just underway, but it already looks pretty sweet.

Lior announces 'Scattered Reflections' album tour for February through into April.

Lior is preparing to release his fourth album Scattered Reflections and will shortly be out on the road for an extensive album tour! Inspired and written about his recent travels, Lior was able to finance the record largely through a PledgeMusic crowd sourcing campaign. He'll be previewing the album at dates across the country and if you've ever seen Lior perform before, you'll know that his live shows are not to be missed. Check out the dates!
