Live Review: Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls + Lincoln Le Fevre - Barwon Club, Geelong (17.04.15)

There aren’t many acts that would take me to the lost world that is Geelong but when Frank Turner, who is beginning to become a bit of a Bluesfest staple, announced a massive wave of sideshows from the festival including the town’s Barwon Club, I knew I needed to be there. And so, I stand in front of the club/bar hybrid hours outside of the city, listening to the in-house speakers blaring The Smith Street Band. It’s a bit of a step down after his last tour two years ago with Boston’s Dropkick Murphys at Festival Hall but whether it be playing to 5000 or 50 people, Turner still treats it like the show of his life.

First line up for GINGERFEST 2014 includes 28 Days, Totally Unicorn and more!

The inaugural Gingerfest fundraising event has announced its first lineup of amazing acts! To be held in Sydney at the Factory Theatre in December, Gingerfest's profits will go towards Vision Australia in memory of Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber, who was murdered last year. Sofer-Schreiber, a stalwart of Canberra's punk rock community, was affectionately known as 'The Ginger Ninja' and so it is in his honour that some of the best and most entertaining bands and artists of the genre from across the country are getting together for an unforgettable show.

Celebrate Australia Day Weekend at The Rev and help raise funds for Oxfram and The Refugee Council of Australia!

The Reverence Hotel in Melbourne will be hosting one heck of an Australia Day party in 2014, with the hardcore, punk and rock communities coming together for a day of blistering tunes. Taking place over two stages, the gig will be raising much needed money for Oxfam and The Refugee Council of Australia – previous events have raised over $25,000 for important causes and next year’s event will be no different. If you’re around and about on January 25 and 26, get down and show your support!

One of Hobart's most admired songwriters, Lincoln Le Fevre has some new to share with you all. First, he has a new album, Resonation; the record was made with fellow Tasmanian ex-pat Paul McKercher (You Am I, Augie March) in Melbourne and can only be described as motivating, diverse and soul-filled.
