JRPG Bravely Second: End Layer to arrive on the 3DS in Australia next month

Bravely Second: End Layer, sequel to the epic JRPG Bravely Default will arrive on the 3DS in Australia on February 27. The sequel will offer both newcomers and returning fans a vast role-playing adventure, filled with deep strategic combat, unforgettable characters and much more.

The story begins when evil Kaiser Oblivion abducts Agnès Oblige, the heroine of Bravely Default, and her bodyguard Yew Geneolgia pledges to rescue her from the kaiser’s Skyhold, an impregnable fortress floating high over Eternia. Along the way, bodyguard Yew will team up with Magnolia Arch and other new faces, plus a few returning heroes like Edea Lee and Tiz Arrior.

Bravely Default’s innovative Brave and Default tactical battle system will return with deeper layers of strategy. As with the predecessor, players must balance risk and reward in turn-based battles. Bravely Second will also have a new battle feature putting the player’s skill to the ultimate test: after winning a battle in a single turn, players can immediately start another, a more difficult encounter for the chance to earn larger rewards. Chaining these battles together will be a quick way to level characters, but defeat will mean that everything earned in those battles will be lost.

Bravely Second will offer players 30 character classes. New classes such as the Patissier will enfeeble foes with delicious desserts, while the Catmancer will use a deep understanding of felines to increase the team’s abilities and find useful items.

Bravely Second Deluxe Collectors Edition

A Deluxe Collector’s Edition will be available upon launch, featuring an Original Soundtrack CD, Agnès Mini Figurine (not an Amiibo) and a Deluxe Artbook, retailing at SRP AU$169.95.

A pre-launch demo will be available from the Nintendo eShop on February 12. The demo will focus on the Three Cavaliers – Yew Geneolgia, Janne Angard, and Nikolai Nikolanikov and will act as a prelude to the main events of the story. Progress and rewards can be carried over to the full version of the game.

Bravely Second will be the latest addition to the stellar line-up of RPGs on the 3DS –joining the ranks of highly acclaimed games like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. This year is looking great for the 3DS with upcoming titles such as Fire Emblem Fates, Hyrule Warriors: Legends and both Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King all to arrive in Australia before the end of 2016.
