Everyone’s favourite British comedian, reluctant journalist, Emmy and Writer’s Guild Award winner, and general ass-kicker John Oliver is heading to Australia in late 2015 for two live shows.

Oliver is the much-loved host of HBO show Last Week Tonight, the Peabody Award-winning program that breaks down current events and issues in a humourous way. Oliver has tackled subjects such as the tobacco industry, pharmaceutical marketing in America, and he most recently travelled to Russia to interview exiled NSA worker and whistle-blower Edward Snowden about data retention and the argument surrounding privacy laws in the US. Previously, Oliver worked on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, working as a ‘Correspondent’ withJon Stewart. It was here that he produced his famous four-part report on US gun laws, and how the US government can use Australia’s gun laws as a structure to create new levels on gun control.

Oliver is also an actor, and has credits in cult show Community and films such as The Smurfs and The Love Guru.

Oliver will be performing his first ever live Australian shows in Melbourne on Thursday, 27 August, and in Sydney on Sunday, 30 August. Tickets can be booked via Ticketmaster from 9:00am on Monday, 11 May.
