Jessica Mauboy, Dan Sultan and Briggs make solid impact on the 2014 National Indigenous Music Awards!

The National Indigenous Music Awards were held in Darwin over the weekend, with many turning out to celebrate the diversity and talent within the Indigenous Australian music industry. For the second year, Jessica Mauboy took out the National Artist of the Year Award, while Dan Sultan dominated the night in more ways than one, with a powerhouse headline performance and winning the National Album, Song and Cover Art of the Year Awards.

This year's nominees for the National Indigenous Music Awards have been released and by all looks, the August Darwin ceremony is going to be one for the books! The musicians announced to be in contention for the awards this year have all been recipients of ARIA awards - or at least have been nominated - in previous years and have cracked the mainstream in their own way. From the pop stylings of Jessica Mauboy to the widespread international appeal Gurrumul, the artists vying for NIMA's love this year are all incredibly talented and diverse.

Jimblah blew expectations right out of the water when his highly anticipated album Phoenix dropped at the end of last year. A true game changer for Australian hip-hop, the South Australian-based artist can add being shortlisted for the prestigious Australian Music Prize to his ever growing list of accolades. Having recently taken to the stage alongside some industry greats at the Apology Concert in Melbourne, Jimblah has now announced a few album launch shows for Melbourne and Adelaide in April.

Sidney Myer Music Bowl to celebrate the anniversary of the Apology to the Stolen Generations with a concert in February.

In what is set to be a special night of recognition, reflection and music, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne will be celebrating the anniversary of the Apology to the country's Stolen Generation on February 13th. Bringing together both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian performers, there will be a concert which aims to promote an atmosphere of shared unity - and to spread the message.

9th Coopers AMP announces shortlisted artists for 2014, including Big Scary and Cloud Control!

The 9th Coopers AMP has announced the nine Australian artists who have been shortlisted for the prestigious award for 2014. Chosen from a long list of 43 artists, the judging panel had a hard task upon them in whittling down the list to come to the final group which was announced over the weekend. Officially unveiled at the Shortlisted! event in Melbourne, co-hosts Ella Hooper and Urthboy revealed that the following bands and solo artists are up for the award.
