The first day and night of the inaugural European extension of Lollapalooza came to a close at the Tempelhof Airport on Saturday, with hip-hop, rock and roll and dance music setting up a killer final few hours for punters to power on through to. With perfect weather conditions, an excellent venue and a solid line up of internationally renowned acts performing promptly throughout the Lollapalooza Berlin's first day, festival goers were spoiled for choice when it came not only to the variety of food options on offer, but musical fare too.

On Wednesday night, award-winning singer/songwriter James Bay achieved a feat new musicians touring Australia all aim to accomplish, selling out the iconic Metro Theatre.

James Bay's star is one that has continued to rise within the Australian music loving community through 2015, especially with the release of his debut album Chaos and the Calm, hitting #3 on the Australian charts. With "Let It Go" and of course, "Hold Back the River", propelling Bay onto commercial radio stations around the country, it makes sense for the songwriter to come to Australia guns blazin' and next January and February will see the British troubadour do just that. Taking on his largest shows in Australia and his first ever show in New Zealand, Bay will build upon his brief visit earlier this year, showcasing Chaos and the Calm in full.

Single of the Day: James Bay "Hold Back The River (Miracle Remix)" (2015)

British singer-songwriter James Bay has witnessed his excellent single "Hold Back the River" spread it's soul across the world and it seems appropriate that one of Sydney's smoothest emcees grabs a hold of the tack with his own interpretation. Miracle has brought his melodic rhymes to the delicate song, spinning in some bouncy verses that works in harmony with Bay's crooning. Check it out below as our Single of the Day:

the AU review recently sat down with Melbourne’s Demi Louise before her first SXSW performance. The Pop/Folk artist described her SXSW experience, “There are like a million people as opposed to hundreds…it’s a world wide gathering…this is just world recognized. And you don’t sleep, at all” and told us which fellow SXSW artists she was sure to catch, including James Bay and James Vincent McMorrow: “I went to see James Vincent McMorrow. I melted. He was literally a metre away and it was amazing.”

Spotify announces lineup for SXSW house

At SXSW for their fourth year running, Spotify has just dropped the lineup and details for their house - running from the 15-20 March. Artists James Bay, and Misterwives will perform their unreleased debut albums - in full - for the very first time - and over 30 other performers will feature over the 6 days. Those "other performers" will include the likes of Run The Jewels, Marian Hill, SZA, and Stromae, and a heap more.
