Best of 2014 Countdown: Top 20 Hip Hop Albums - Part 1: 20-11

The year may have started off slow for hip hop in 2014, but this year has ended up giving us some excellent projects ranging from stunning, experimental debuts to some of the best one-producer albums we have seen in years. Some albums may not have one stand-out single, but surpass the competition when taken as a whole, hence the differences seen in our top hip hop and R&B tracks of 2014.

Festival Review: Rapture Festival ft. Eminem - ANZ Stadium (22.02.14)

The inaugural Rapture festival marks an important turn for live hip hop in Australia; it proves that this country can – and will hopefully continue to - host a professional and coherent rap festival with both massive international and local hip hop artists. While a ridiculous amount of past hiccups has marred the reputation of live hip hop in Australia – particularly from U.S acts – the successful run of Rapture stood in contradiction to the stigma, pushing through any doubters by actually delivering what it promised to.

2013 has been a whirlwind for hip-hop the world over. The growth on our shores has been insane with artists like Horrorshow, Remi, and Jackie Onassis spoiling us with quality; classic sounds of the South continue to pervade commercial music over in the states (Juicy J and Mike WiLL Made It are taking over pop/Miley Cyrus); the future leaders of hip-hop (eg, A$AP Rocky, Chance The Rapper) are still cropping up with stunning debut albums and noteworthy mixtapes; and the more established artists are either breaking new ground (Yeezus) or reinforcing their reputation (Legends Never Die).

Hip hop artist Eminem will be coming to Australia and New Zealand in 2014! Eminem will be performing at Western Springs in Auckland, Etihad Stadium, Suncorp Stadium and ANZ Stadium.

Coming along for the stadium tour will be Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, 360 and David Dallas. Eminem sold out all of his stadium tour when he was in Australia two years ago, so make sure to grab your tickets before they're all snapped up.

Supafest 2013 set to host the likes of 50 Cent, Ne-Yo and TI.

Australia's largest urban music festival, Supafest, has dropped its line-up for 2013! The highly anticipated artist announcement has been revealed, with the likes of 50 Cent, TI and Ne-Yo amongst the talent to be performing in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from the 25th of April.
