New Music Video: Interpol "Everything Is Wrong" (2015)

I don't know about you, but when I remember and think of New York, I tend to think of it in black and white. Something so vintage about that city, especially when its wintry. So, when Interpol released their music video for El Pintor cut "Everything is Wrong", I thought, 'Well there ya go,' when the first image of Daniel Kessler walking down a NYC street first flashed up. Directed by Paul Banks and Carlos Puga, the clip has everything you could want - Kessler eating an ice cream in the middle of the city, a cute French bulldog and some great footage of the band performing in some on point suits.

Australian Interpol fans got a quick glimpse of the band as they are now when they performed out this way for Splendour in the Grass in the middle of the year. The much anticipated El Pintor record was still a few months off being released but there were already questions being asked about how it would sound in the wake of bassist Carlos Dengler's departure. With the album's release however, Interpol have shown their strength as a creative unit even with a personnel change and looking ahead to 2015, more and more crowds are going to be noticing it too.

Album Review: Interpol - El Pintor (2014 LP)

When Interpol recently released their new single “All The Rage Home”, all of us long-term dedicated fans started getting extremely excited about the band's return to their original sound. Sure enough, their new album El Pintor is a collection of new songs that has the doom and gloom essence, served up with super slick attitude that features prominently on their earlier records.

Single Stream: Interpol "Ancient Ways" (2014)

Interpol are back, serving us the second scoop from the forthcoming LP El Pintor with broody, thrashing rock and roll on "Ancient Ways". "Fuck the Ancient Ways" is quite a lyric to jump straight into, signalling the intense guitar work that follows. Rebelling against tradition, vocalist Paul Banks manages to wade through the rather intense instrumental with a consistently excellent performance, keeping things looking up for when El Pintor is released next month.

Festival Review: Lollapalooza (Day One) ft. Bombay Bicycle Club + Arctic Monkeys + Eminem - Grant Park, Chicago (01.08.14)

Walking into Grant Park, it really did hit me how large Lollapalooza is. We got a press release stating there was an expected 100,000 attendees through the gates over the three day event. Usually when you rock up to even the bigger Australian festivals (Soundwave, Falls etc), you get the impression you're in for a big time gradually over the day. Here, it was honestly like a good 40,000 people from all over the country and beyond were just transported and plopped down in the middle of downtown Chicago at 11am.

Festival Review: Splendour In The Grass (Day One) Ft. OutKast + Interpol + Spiderbait (25.07.14)

The official first day of Splendour In The Grass 2014 set things into motion quite quickly, with punters flooding into the sun-kissed North Byron Parklands as soon as the gates opened, quickly spreading amongst the pop-up community which this great festival has now become. From The Preatures and Ball Park Music to the 25th anniversary of Spiderbait and the 20th anniversary of the almighty OutKast, we were treated to a consistently excellent stream of live performances, and this was only on the main stage.

the AU playlist: 6 new songs by Splendour In The Grass 2014 acts

It's almost here! The hotly anticipated Splendour In The Grass, where a great range of contemporary acts will vie for the coveted "best set ever" status while the rest of Australia try and live the event through a mixture of radio and social media. Many acts, such as co-headliners Interpol, have their fair share of classics to choose from, but will also be showcasing new material; some of which we have had to wait years for. Here are six relatively new songs to wrap your head around before the massive weekend, chuck these on your playlists and commit the lyrics to memory.

Splendour In The Grass Pre-Party to be headlined by Interpol

Three days of local and international acts isn't quite enough according to the fast approaching Splendour In The Grass, so a much-needed pre party is in order. Those who arrive the day before the festival kicks off will be able to head into town at check into The Northern for something pretty massive.
