Festival Review: Byron Bluesfest (Day Five) - Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (21.04.14)

The final day of the Byron Bluesfest was mainly about revisiting some favourites from the weekend, for me. I suppose you could question whether five days for a festival may be too long, when by the end of it, the line up consists of acts that have already played, but with the amount of new talent on offer in amongst the big names, I suppose this model ensures everyone gets a fair shot of gaining and growing a crowd.

Tonight, the 2014 Byron Bluesfest drew to a close, bringing five days and nights of world class music to an end with the final headline duties falling on the capable shoulders of the Dave Matthews Band, Gary Clark Jr and Elvis Costello and the Imposters on the main stages, while Watussi, Ray Beadle and Playing For Change ensured the party continued on the smaller stages too.

Festival Review: Byron Bluesfest (Day Two) - Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm (18.04.14)

When faced with a festival that spans five days, it can be slightly daunting when it comes to planning your timetable for each day. Day two of Bluesfest coincides with Good Friday and arriving on site for my second round, there’s definitely a festive vibe in the air, albeit less chocolate.

The second day and night of the Byron Bay Bluesfest enjoyed stellar weather and more outstanding performances from artists who were making their 2014 debut or following on from great sets on Thursday.

The Bluesfest announcements just keep rolling out - this time, India.Arie and Joss Stone announcing a run of special headline dates to accompany their appearance at Bluesfest 2014. Both artists are renowned in their own right for stunning musicianship and vocal abilities; both India and Joss' incredible grasp on soul and funk music really has to be seen to fully appreciate! The tour will see the ladies take in venues in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this April, so be sure to get your tickets when they go on sale soon!
