Festival Review: Lollapalooza (Day One) ft. Bombay Bicycle Club + Arctic Monkeys + Eminem - Grant Park, Chicago (01.08.14)

Walking into Grant Park, it really did hit me how large Lollapalooza is. We got a press release stating there was an expected 100,000 attendees through the gates over the three day event. Usually when you rock up to even the bigger Australian festivals (Soundwave, Falls etc), you get the impression you're in for a big time gradually over the day. Here, it was honestly like a good 40,000 people from all over the country and beyond were just transported and plopped down in the middle of downtown Chicago at 11am.

The Aussies of Lollapalooza 2014: From Flume to the John Butler Trio, a look at who's flying the flag in Chicago.

While we're coming down from Splendour weekend, we turn our eyes now to the next massive festival some of the same artists will be leaving Byron Bay to prepare for this week, Lollapalooza. Arguably one of the biggest festivals on the calendar, Lollapalooza has gone from being a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction back in the 90s to one of the hottest festivals held in the US, Chile, Brazil and in 2014 now, Argentina. the AU will be on ground at Grant Park this weekend bringing you coverage from the three day festival but before then, we take a look at the Australian contingent of artists set to perform in 2014.

It's Summer Up There! A Festival Guide on Lollapalooza 2014.

Lollapalooza, one of America’s biggest summer festivals, will be running again this August, and as per usual, it’s got a hell of a lineup. Rap god Eminem, will be joined by massive acts such as the reunited Outkast, Kings of Leon, Artic Monkeys and Lorde. The quality isn’t simply top heavy, with an array of impressive acts spreading all the way down the bill and even a few Australian acts will be flying the flag for us including Iggy Azalea, The Temper Trap, and Courtney Barnett.

Album Review: Iggy Azalea - The New Classic (Deluxe Version) (2014 LP)

If you're already a fan of Iggy Azalea you would have felt the pain of waiting this long for her first album; sure there were mixtapes to tide us over, but a curated selection of what she thinks best represents her as an artist was always going to be far superior. I can confidently state that it has all been worth the wait. The New Classic is a mix of all things Iggy: rap, pop and a dirty attitude - and then some.

Four NSW artists set to join Eminem, Pearl Jam, OutKast and more at the 2014 Austin City Limits Festival.

One of our favourite US Festivals without question is Austin City Limits - a festival put on by C3 Events (the guys behind Lollapalooza in Chicago, and also co-presenters of Big Day Out here in Australia) over two weekends in Austin every October. It's hard to believe we're talking about it already, but today marked the announcement for this year's event, set to be headlined by Eminem, the already leaked Splendour headliners Outkast and recent Big Day Out headliners Pearl Jam.

SXSW Live Review: MTVu Woodie Awards ft. Childish Gambino + Iggy Azalea + The 1975 - Red River & 1st St (13.03.14)

The MTVu Woodie Awards hit Austin for another year, bringing some of the bigger SXSW showcasing artists to the open air stage on Red River and 1st streets for a night of entertainment. After being out in the line for quite a bit, I made it inside the venue just as special guest presenter Lil Wayne surprised everyone with a short performance of "A Milli", before rushing off the stage once more, leaving the crowd cheering, not quite sure what had happened.

Live Review: Beyoncé + Iggy Azalea - Adelaide Entertainment Centre (05.11.13)

Beyoncé Knowles is many things – singer, actress, dancer, wife, mother, businesswoman, designer…the list of titles the woman can attribute to herself is quite endless. I’m not quite sure what it is about Bey that has the pop world and, let’s face it, everyone else talking about her at one point or another, but it’s undeniable that she has a fantastic talent of getting feathers ruffled. The ‘Mrs Carter World Tour’ put up stops in Adelaide tonight for the first of two shows and I have to admit, this was a day that lagged on forever.
