Vivid Live Review: Liars + HTRK - Carriageworks, Sydney (06.06.14)

In another sign that Vivid Sydney is making all the right decisions, this year’s festival was extended to Redfern’s Carriageworks for Modulations – a long weekend of live music and food curated by Sydney label Modular. The old train yards were buzzing with Pet Shop Boys and Presets playing in one section and the Wild Porteno popup bar wafting sweet charcoal scents around the grounds.

Live Review: At First Sight - Carriageworks (20.07.13)

Carriageworks is an art space that doesn’t see live music too often, so when some of the nation’s brightest indie acts descend upon the massive warehouse for a unique record-day-slash-music-festival, you can be sure Sydney’s hipsters came out in droves. Really, the day was worth it just for the people-watching alone, the most unashamedly hipster fashion was on display all day, touting every stereotype you can throw at the hate-it-or-love-it subculture.

Carriageworks releases full artist line up for 'At First Sight' gig and record fair!

Carriageworks will be hosting one hell of a night when they present 'At First Sight' on July 20 and have released the names of the talented folk set to take part! The line-up is cutting edge and features the following:

Our Most Anticipated Record Store Day 2013 Releases

That one last bastion of the music industry that refuses to die – the record store – is going through a bit of a revolution of late. Whether it be record stores that have embraced open artistic ventures like Melbourne’s Polyester, whose in-store performances are widely revered more than a bands night gig at a pub, or the likes of Poison City Records in Fitzroy, who have expanded their merchandise catalogue to skateboarding gear such as boards, wheels and t-shirts, the humble record store is now far more than a place to buy music.

But of course, they still are that gateway to the heaven of actual, tangible forms of music, the sort people are willing to pay for. In celebration of the tangible, this upcoming Record Store Day (RSD) will have record stores in your town chock full of many wonderful limited tangible musical goodies that you can get your hands on.

So here’s a quick list of some of the more anticipated finds around Australia this Saturday:
