Live Review: The Living End + King Cannons + Hunting Grounds - Enmore Theatre (04.09.11)

Here are the angry young men. It was a phrase Joy Division wore as a badge of honour in the late seventies. Fast forward to Sydney in 2011 and we have three bands that qualified for that tag. The scene was Father’s Day night with some punters bringing the old man along to party with the youngsters and in-betweeners who banded together like an army to enjoy some fine, true blue Australian talent.

Howl succumbs to triple J Unearthed High name-change syndrome

Another act has succumbed to triple j Unearthed High name-change syndrome. Yes, you will all likely remember Howl as those rambunctious upstarts from Ballarat who claimed the crown back in late 2009. Well, times they have a’changed and Howl are no more. The good news is that Hunting Grounds is the very same band. Same music, same members, spanking new moniker.

The stars didn't collide for this reviewer, as the rather underwhelming menu left a bitter taste in the mouth.  

Cassette Kids + Howl + Kids of 88 - Oxford Art Factory (18.06.10)

Local heroes Cassette Kids returned to the Oxford Art Factory on Friday night, performing to a sold out crowd who gave the four piece a true pop star reception. To thank us, they brought lasers.
