Album Review: House of Laurence - Awake (2015 LP)

House of Laurence is new rock (think Tame Impala) meets the classics (think The Animals), meshed with otherworldly psychedelic elements (Flaming Lips?). The quartet hails from the “rowdy” north-eastern suburbs of Warrandyte and Eltham and was founded by lead singer Christopher Laurence. The band bloomed from Laurence’s solo project in late 2012 and since then they have released two singles and a self-titled EP. Now we finally have a debut LP to sink our teeth into - Awake - which promises to explore the “depths of space & sound”. So does it reach its intended destination?
