BIGSOUND Live: Highlights of Night Two - Part Two (10.09.15)

Pictured: Koi Child

Hangovers reeling, tiredness setting in; though there’s no time to stop as the music keeps on spinning at BIGSOUND live round two. My second night started at The Zoo for I Know Leopard. Leopards in a zoo, I’m sure there is a pun in there somewhere. With their cosmic, ‘70s inspired, melancholic pop tunes the band tugged on heart strings of punters, providing merit for the heavy airplay their new single "Close My Eyes" is getting on Triple J. Sharp rhythms and soft melodies come together in a perfect marriage.

Festival Review: The Farmer and the Owl - University of Wollongong, Wollongong (14.03.2015)

Going down to Wollongong University to attend Farmer and The Owl is an absolute joy. The trip which is only a touch over an hour’s drive from Sydney is an ease and the festival is filled with laid-back easy-going coastal vibes. That is despite the healthy helping of raucous rock that filled out the line-up.

Live Review: DZ Deathrays + Hockey Dad + Bass Drum of Death – Fowler's Live, Adelaide (05.03.15)

DZ Deathrays arrived in Adelaide on Thursday night as part of their “Get Rich or Drunk Tryin” tour in support of their second full-length album Black Rat. In support were Illawarra surf rock duo Hockey Dad - I’d first seen these guys live in support of Bad//Dreems late last year and they blew my mind. They’ve taken things up another notch since then and it was clear a large section of the audience had come early to see them before DZ’s – if not just to see them.
