Festival Review: St Jerome's Laneway Festival - Hart's Mill, Port Adelaide (06.02.15)

It turned out to be another hot day out by the river in Adelaide for the Laneway Festival but thankfully, the site down at Hart's Mill had been fitted out to deal with the conditions...just. With a line up boasting some of the best names in music in the moment, I was so excited to get down there and check the festival out; I hadn't been as excited for a festival as I was for this one in quite a while.

In town for Laneway, highasakite played the Corner in Melbourne last night supported by Japanese Wallpaper. Rebecca Houlden was there and brings us these photos from the night.

the AU interview: highasakite (Norway) Talk Touring Internationally, What It’s Like Spending So Much Time Together and Future Album Plans

Norwegian Indie pop group highasakite first captured Australia’s attention with a unique blend of synthesisers, soaring melodies and ethereal vocals. Now flash forward and their popularity is only growing with every new release, interview and performance. Larry Heath recently sat down with Ingrid Helene Havik and Kristoffer Lo when they were here touring for the 2015 St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival and asked about their experiences touring abroad, supporting London Grammar and what they did for Australia Day.

Live Review: Highasakite + Japanese Wallpaper - Metro Theatre, Sydney (27.01.15)

Since having visited us last year for a whirlwind tour, Highasakite stocks have risen considerably. Their record Silent Treatment has scored them two Spellemen Awards back home (the Norwegian equivalent of a Grammy) and more recently their anthemic single “Since Last Wednesday” garnered enough love to shoot its way to #77 on the Hottest 100 just the day before. With this in mind it came as quite a shock to find the Metro Theatre in more modest dressings; a black curtain cutting the room in half.

It's Laneway time officially in Australia, with the official sideshows now kicking off around the place ahead of the national festival tour! The stunning Highasakite came through Sydney's Metro Theatre overnight with Japanese Wallpaper on support - Mikki's gallery captures some of that magic.

Class of Laneway Festival 2015 announces official sideshows!

A whole stack of Laneway Festival sideshows were announced over the course of yesterday, sending fans scrambling for cash and calendars. What's looking to be arguably one of the strongest Laneway line ups yet, the 2015 group of performers are looking to play some more shows on their trip Down Under early 2015, if you'll have 'em. Check out who is playing where below! Tickets on sale where noted. *exhale*

the AU interview: Highasakite (Norway) talk about being part of Laneway 2015 lineup

the AU review's Editor-In-Chief Larry Heath sat down with Norwegian indie pop outfit Highasakite. Ingrid and Trond from Highasakite spoke to Larry about their excitement of being part of the lineup for Laneway Festival 2015.

Future Islands, FKA twigs, St Vincent and more on the 2015 St Jerome's Laneway Festival!

After much speculation and wondering, the line up for the 2015 St Jerome's Laneway Festival has been announced with a list of artists that has indeed impressed. With the likes of Lorde, CHVRCHES and HAIM making the journey to Australia for the festival tour last year, the Laneway crew have gone and levelled up with their 2015 class, featuring some massive names including Future Islands, St Vincent, Flying Lotus and more.

Laneway Festival line up speculation - Who can we expect on the tour in 2015?

The official artist announcement for the 2015 St Jerome's Laneway Festival will be dropping tomorrow and, like everyone else, we can't wait to see who's going to be spending a bit of the summer with us next year. While some names have been dropped, leaked, unofficially spoiled already, the truth is, the crafty folk behind Laneway could and have pulled artists out of left field in previous years, so we're always going to be surprised in some way or another with elements of the final result. But, we like to play the rumour game, so we've come up with 10 artists and bands who we think may be fitting out the bill for Laneway the very least, we'd love to see them on it.

Larry sat down with Ingrid and Trond from Norwegian indie pop outfit Highasakite earlier today to talk about their brief debut Australian tour - which kicks off at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney tonight and ends in Melbourne at Howler on Saturday - and their new album Silent Treatment.

the AU interview: Highasakite (Norway) talk about Silent Treatment, SXSW, touring Asia and Australia!

Recently we caught up with Norwegian quintet Highasakite over email to find out a little bit more about the band, and their new album Silent Treatment. The band are due to hit our shores next month for a quick-stop tour, with two shows in Sydney and Melbourne; though the band have hinted they may be back for more shows soon. Released earlier this year, Silent Treatment has seen the band garner interest from across the globe, with the single "Since Last Wednesday" getting significant airplay, including on Triple J here in Australia.

Highasakite announce debut Australian tour for September.

Norwegian five piece Highasakite have confirmed dates for their first ever Australian tour! The tour will see them visiting Sydney and Melbourne for two exclusive shows in September, but we have a sneaky suspicion they'll be back for more before too long!
