Live Review: Jenny Broke The Window + Food Court + Hedge Fund + Winston Surfshirt - The Sly Fox, Enmore (24.04.15)

It’s no secret. Sydney has been extremely good to indie bands and fans of the genre in the past few years. I have no idea where it came from, but a handful of acts have created a huge ground-swell that is showing no signs of stopping. That’s what brings us to Rare Finds #1, a new indie club that launched last Friday at Enmore’s Sly Fox. Seems like a simple concept, right? Sydney loves indie, Sydney should have a dedicated indie night.

As most of the country starts heading into its wintry phase, Sydney recovers from the 'Super Storm' and the rest of us begin rugging up as we look towards the mid-year mark, there are a great deal of tours preparing to kick off. Before Splendour in the Grass mania descends on the east coast, we've still got the mammoth Groovin' the Moo tour to get underway, with some fab local and international talent gearing up to hit regional areas over the past few weeks. Our gig guide this weekend features some of the artists on the tour, with some other gems we think are worth a look.

Exclusive Single Premiere: Hedge Fund "Look Who's Back" (2015)

Sydney indies Hedge Fudge have released their first single for the year with "Look Who's Back", an energetic and thoughtful jam flowing in the same vein as their well-received 2014 singles "Outta Sight" and "Object of My Affection". With a nice sense for post-punk, the band are positioned for a fast rise through the ranks, especially if they continue pumping out quality like this. We're proud to exclusively premiere the single today on the AU, listen below:

Exclusive Music Video Premiere: Hedge Fund "Object of My Affection" (2014)

Sydney band Hedge Fund today premiere the video clip for their latest single, "Object of My Affection" with the AU! Hooked in by the unique nature and creativity of the visuals, vthe music video for "Object of My Affection" was directed and animated entirely by Hedge Fund's lead vocalist, William Colvin Mckenzie - a process which took over 200 hours to complete. This is the third Hedge Fund clip made by Mckenzie, who has directed videos for the likes of Deep Sea Arcade and SURES in the past, and is a showcase of a great knack for some interesting concepts being realised onscreen.
