Launching their new EP The Animal Hours on a rainy Thursday night, Sydney band The Cadres took over the Gaelic.
Like a surfy Momford & Sons, five-piece Hattie Carroll opened proceedings playing to a quickly filling room. These guys look and feel like they all met in music class in high school and started jamming for the fun of it. But this initial impression belies their talent as a band. From the first smooth vocals from lead singer/guitarist Matt Stewart and subtle keyboard lines from Shaun Dooley, Hattie Carrol play impressively lyrical and well structured numbers.
