Paul Kelly and Gurrumul release an incredible cover of "Amazing Grace"

Two Australian treasures coming together for a soulful cover of an iconic gospel song is definitely something that deserves attention. Especially when those two treasures are Gurrumul and Paul Kelly. The two musicians have collaborated to record a music video for their cover of "Amazing Grace" for Gurrumul's third studio album, The Gospel Album, following a very well-received live debut.

On Saturday evening, Gurrumul took to the stage at the National Indigenous Music Awards to enthusiastic applause. Led out to his seat and guitar by collaborator, Skinnyfish's Michael Hohnen, the worldwide acclaimed performer debuted three songs from his highly anticipated new record, The Gospel Album. As the audience watched on, Gurrumul's voice filled the ampitheatre and the haunting beauty behind the delivery of each lyric hung in the air. As we look ahead to his national theatre tour, this performance was a special glimpse as to what thousands are about to experience.

Gurrumul to premiere new songs from 'The Gospel Album' at 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards!

The 2015 National Indigenous Music Awards has just gotten bigger the announcement today that acclaimed artist Gurrumul will be performing at the ceremony to be held in Darwin this July, premiering three songs from his highly anticipated album, The Gospel Album. Fellow NIMA performers East Journey and Yothu Yindi will also be debuting a special one-hour live performance of their recent collaboration, The Genesis Project, tying in nicely with their two nominations in this year's awards.

The Barunga Festival confirms final line up; Briggs, Paul Kelly, Gurrumul and more added to the 30th Anniversary event!

The 30th anniversary celebrations of the Barunga Festival were always going to be mega, but with the event's final artist announcement featuring the likes of Paul Kelly, Briggs and Gurrumul, the festival to be held this Queen's Birthday long weekend has now been certified as being something of the legendary quality. Barunga is known for its memorable musical collaborations and the 2015 artist line up could possibly still offer up some gems and surprises for sure.

The Who, Elton John, No Doubt, Wilco and more set to perform at New Orleans Jazz Fest!

Welp, count us keen. The line up for the 2015 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, or Jazz Fest, has just revealed the list of names set to perform this year and it is nothing short of mega. Leading the announcement is Elton John and The Who, while the likes of Gurrumul, Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, No Doubt, Keith Urban, Wilco and The Meters are also announced to be playing. And they're only just getting started.

The Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards has wrapped up their ninth year with awards going to some very talented and astonishing artists. With an intensely entertaining evening, they handed out 14 awards to some of Australia’s finest talent, including first time winner Remi, multiple award winner Violent Soho and international breakthrough artists Courtney Barnett and Sheppard.

ARIA Award nominees and Fine Arts winners announced in Sydney today!

Winners and more nominees for the 2014 ARIA Awards were announced at the official event in Sydney this morning, with some of Australia's best performers and their teams recognised for their work over the past year. The winners of the Fine Arts and Artisan Awards were announced at the event, with the slew of nominees for the November ARIAs unveiled. the AU congratulates all involved - there have been some truly stellar records produced over the past year, as well as the development of some great live bands who are getting just recognition!

The nominees for the 2014 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards have been announced, once again representing a great and diverse range of Australian musicians who have produced some standout material over the past 12 months. Alongside some of the country's best emerging artists (REMi, Kilter, DMA's), are nominations for some of Australia's established favourites, including the likes of the John Butler Trio, Sara Storer, Violent Soho and more.

Neil Finn, Gurrumul and Megan Washington coming together for exclusive Margaret River show this November.

They're three of the country's most loved performers and in November, they'll be performing on the same line up for one very special show in Margaret River. Neil Finn, Gurrumul and Megan Washington will be coming together at the Sandalford Estate for a rare one-off gig coinciding with the Margaret River Gourmet Escape Weekend. The Estate has also announced that it will be donating its profits to Telethon, supporting young children in need of support.

This year's nominees for the National Indigenous Music Awards have been released and by all looks, the August Darwin ceremony is going to be one for the books! The musicians announced to be in contention for the awards this year have all been recipients of ARIA awards - or at least have been nominated - in previous years and have cracked the mainstream in their own way. From the pop stylings of Jessica Mauboy to the widespread international appeal Gurrumul, the artists vying for NIMA's love this year are all incredibly talented and diverse.

NT's legendary Saltwater Band reforms for Barunga Festival!

The Barunga community welcomes you to the 29th year of the largest Indigenous community festival in the country, the Barunga Festival (June 6 - 9, 2014). Saltwater Band, one of Australia's most acclaimed Indigenous bands, have announced recently that they are re-forming for a special one-off show at this festival along with Tjintu Desert Band, Ali Mills, Sietta and many more acts along with more features of music, culture and sport. It's sure to be a fantastic and culturally rich four days.
