Live Review: Gold Fields + KLP + Problems - Jive, Adelaide (26.06.15)

It's been a while since I've seen Gold Fields perform. Aside from a late night set at BIGSOUND last year where they suffered from the bullshit noise restrictions limiting the quality of the actual show, the last time the Ballarat band was in Adelaide they were touring debut album Black Sun to a pumping Jive. Friday night saw them return with KLP as part of their current joint Australian tour and it was great to see them back.

the AU Weekend Gig Guide: June 26th - June 28th.

Already Friday tomorrow! We're heading to a diverse range of live shows around the country this weekend, from country folk royalty in Sydney, through to some brilliant electronic tunes down the east coast, there's definitely something for everyone going down. Check out our gig guide for our tips this weekend!

Co-headline Australian tour by Gold Fields & KLP kicking off this June & July!

Let's take it back to Brisbane, September last year. While members of the music industry are strewn through the Valley as the first night of BIGSOUND showcases take off, it's hard to pick who to see. There are established artists, up and coming fresh faces and bands who'd been out of the spotlight for a little while, all merging together and taking to stages half of us have never spent much time in, if any. It's a task, as I remember it, but in KLP and Gold Fields were two acts I knew I had to see at some stage. LONG STORY SHORT, they were two highlights of mine and I'm stoked to see that both are joining forces for a co-headline national tour kicking off next month!

Groovin' The Moo announces local bands for national tour including Timberwolf, Tired Lion and more!

Groovin' The Moo just got a whole lot bigger with the addition of a number of local names to each leg of the national tour. The festival kicks off over ANZAC Day weekend in Oakbank, the SA leg being introduced to the wider bill for the first time in 2014. Check out the additions to each date of the Groovin' The Moo tour below and grab your tickets while they still last!

Single Stream: Gold Fields “Hold Me” (2014)

As seen over the last 12 months, Gold Fields sure can slay a remix or two but at last they are back with an original release, and we could not be happier. Whilst “Hold Me” has less of a tribal feel that was so distinct in their 2013 debut album Black Sun, we are fully digging this new fusion of house electronica with their signature dreamy synths and of course, the smooooth vocals of Mark Robert Fuller.

Editor's Picks: The Best Music of Bigsound 2014 - Sose Fuamoli picks her five favourite performances from Brisbane

Now that the chaotic bubble that is BIGSOUND has been popped and the hundreds of delegates and musicians have gone home, bonded in varying levels of the same sense of exhaustion and hangovers, we take a look at which performances stood out the most. Larry brought you his Top 5 picks and below are just some of the artists who I managed to see totally owning it at the music love in that was Wednesday and Thursday night in the Valley.

Festival Review: BIGSOUND Live - Night Two, Part One ft. Safia + Gold Fields + Deep Sea Arcade + More... (11.09.14)

Night Two of BIGSOUND Live for me was a little more unplanned than Night One, allowing me to come across some unexpected talent along the way. As with any day at a festival like this, however, with all the amazing highs there were also, unfortunately, some lows. But we may have the fun police to blame for that... read on!

BIGSOUND announces line up for JBL Live Stage

Single Stream: Zella Day - "Sweet Ophelia" (Gold Fields Remix) (2014)

It may be getting colder around the country as we head into winter hibernation, but this track is bound to keep you warm and looking forward to summer. Ballarat's own Gold Fields have been garnering recent positive attention for their remixes of tunes by the likes of Empire of the Sun, Chela, Tinashe and more and to add to the pile of impressive flips, they present their latest remix - "Sweet Ophelia", by Arizona singer Zella Day.

the AU interview: Ryan D'Sylva of Gold Fields (Ballarat)

Gold Fields are going to be spending their New Year's Eve with thousands of others in Sydney because, why the eff not? Performing alongside some great acts at NYE on the Harbour, one of the many events hitting Sydney for the night, the Ballarat lads will be winding up what has been a massive year of touring and promoting their debut album Black Sun both overseas and in Australia, with a cheeky set harbourside. I caught up with Ryan D'Sylva ahead of the band's recent gig at Federation Square to see how things were with the band since they'd returned from America and how they're anticipating the end of the year.

Live Review: Jinja Safari + Cub Sport - Karova Lounge, Ballarat (28.09.13)

Being the evening of the AFL Grand Final, it was a bit unpredictable as to whether many would venture out into the Ballarat nightlife or more specifically to Karova Lounge for some live music. This time last year was a huge night but mainly due to the homecoming of local favourites Gold Fields, so I was quite curious as to whether tonight would have a similar result with Jinja Safari in town for their Bays of Fire tour.
