Live Review: The Smashing Pumpkins + Gerard Way - The Big Top, Sydney (25.02.15)

For a long while there Billy Corgan’s eccentricities overshadowed his music. Every month another piece of click-bait drama emerged; dating Courtney Love, forming his own wrestling company, and waging war on everyone from his contemporaries to pop music itself. It was a thrill to walk out of Luna Park’s Big Top with The Smashing Pumpkins music having been the epicentre of the night.

Live Review: Foo Fighters + Rise Against + The Delta Riggs - ANZ Stadium, Sydney (26.02.15)

Like anything deemed "popular" in contemporary music today - especially by such mainstream media as Triple M - it's fair to say that the Foo Fighters are a band that you either love or you hate. Though they hardly inspire the same sort of vitriol of, say, Nickelback, they certainly have their detractors. But being it's 2015, you've lived through dozens of their hit singles and you've had dozens of opportunities to see them live (they've been great friend of our country for a long time now), I daresay you already know which side of the fence you sit on. Which perhaps makes a review like this largely redundant. I made my mind up on this band a very long time ago. Yes, I am proudly a fan, and so please do accept my opinion with a nice dose of bias.

Festival Review: Soundwave Festival Adelaide (Day One) - Bonython Park (21.02.15)

So here it is. The first day of the last ever Soundwave Adelaide – and, coincidentally, the first time Soundwave has had a first day. The decision to split Australia's biggest music festival across two days was met with kind of...mixed reception. Some people were excited about having a festival stretch across a whole weekend, and some thought Soundwave might struggle to pack out two days with quality bands.
