When one goes to Soundwave there is always the problem of ‘which bands should I see?’ With a lineup as impressive as this years there was always bound to be numerous clashes and overlapping sets. Prior to walking in the gates I had planned on spending the majority of my day at the main stages but within minutes that changed. For starters the stages were actually quite far apart meaning that should I camp a spot at one stage I would miss the band on the alternate stage. Secondly, the crowd at this years festival was huge. A large step up from the more intimate atmosphere that came with the festivals old home at the Melbourne Showgrounds. So with that, I made an early decision to spread my day among the other stages.

Ah, Soundwave. To be pitted against walls of the black-shirt-clad masses and be pummelled with blast beats and breakdowns until the spirit breaks. Or, in my case, burnt to a sunny crisp by 3PM and bounce around between bands until your feet give out. A fun day for sure!

In this issue: More Soundwave bands announce headline shows including All Time Low, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Wonder Years, Sylosis, Gallows and Fucked Up.
ALL TIME LOW & POLAR BEAR CLUB – Sydney and Brisbane

Completing what is surely going to be the biggest festival line up in Australia for 2013, the second artist announcement for Soundwave has dropped this afternoon, led by Slayer and surprisingly, Cypress Hill.

When you watch Dave Grohl running around the stage, wearing a massive grin, you can't help but imagine he's channeling his 15 year old self, going - "hey buddy, look how cool it is! Your dreams are totally do come true!" Maybe that's how Dave has kept it real all these years. But however he's done it, it's mesmerizing, it's awesome.
It's rock and roll.

And here we go for another week! First up as always is our video of the week, this week belonging to The Jezabels' "Endless Summer" - the first single off their highly anticipated debut album Prisoner (due in store 16 September). It's a stunning track - we already knew that - which now has an equally impressive music video to boot. You can never have enough pretty girls and horses in any music video, we do say!
