This year, rather than opt for my traditional Festival Diaries format for SXSW, I went for a more straight forward approach, with a series of reviews on ground at the event. But there was the odd experience that I couldn't quite elaborate into its own article. So here now are all the leftovers of my experiences over ten days at SXSW 2013 in a Festival Diary special!

Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls have already made a lot of Australian fans happy by announcing a run of Bluesfest sideshows with Dropkick Murphys and The Swingin' Utters, but now, their entire Australian tour has finally been confirmed - headline shows and all. Dates in Perth, Auckland, Sunshine Coast and Wellington have been added to the tour run, completely what is set to be an explosive tour from Turner and co!

Representing the 'folk-punk' genre at the 2013 Bluesfest, both Dropkick Murphys and Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls are teaming up for some kickass headline shows in Australian capital cities, bringing California's Swingin' Utters along for the ride.

Today Bluesfest, Australia’s multi-award winning 5 Day Festival presents its 1st artist announcement for Easter 2013 (March 28 – April 1) held in beautiful Byron Shire, at its dedicated event site, the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm.
It’s the earliest announcement in the history of Bluesfest – 6 weeks sooner than usual and it marks the beginning of FOUR exciting announcements to be released in the upcoming weeks.

Frank Turner’s Australian tour rolled into Perth this week, bringing with him friends old and new. If you doubt the power of rock and roll, you should really come to a Frank Turner gig. An undeniably charismatic performer, Turner is able to successfully bring together such seemingly disparate music lovers.
