FOSTER THE PEOPLE

the AU interview at Lollapalooza: Mark Foster of Foster The People (Los Angeles) on Splendour, returning to America and more!

Only mere hours before they took to the Samsung Galaxy Stage at Lollapalooza on Saturday evening, Mark Foster chats with me about the last few weeks for him and his Foster the People boys. We all flew out of Australia at the same time, funnily enough, last week after Splendour in the Grass and so it's good to see he held up well after the time spent Down Under.

Festival Review: Lollapalooza (Day Two) ft. The Temper Trap + Grouplove + Foster the People + Outkast - Grant Park, Chicago (02.08.14)

Day Two of Lolla started later for a lot of people, I gathered, with Friday night's aftershow/party antics continuing well on into the early hours of Saturday morning. Nursing a Red Bull, I arrived back at Grant Park on Saturday afternoon to a party which was already well cranked.

Live Review: Foster the People + Gang of Youths - Enmore Theatre, Sydney (29.07.14)

On one particularly warm winter’s night in July, hundreds of eager fans lined themselves along Enmore Road, Newtown, anticipating the performance of one of the most celebrated acts in alternative music - Foster the People. The expectations were high for the Los Angeles band, who made a stopover at the Enmore Theatre as part of their numerous Splendour In The Grass sideshows. Only minutes into their set, it was as clear as day that that they were not going to be a disappointment. This night would be one to remember.

The Festival Diaries: The Governor's Ball in New York City (Part Three: Day Three, 2014)

Day three dawns and the sun gods have visited us again – time to get alarmed, because now we know New York will be haunted with rain, fog and mugginess for the weeks to come. Only two minutes in, Canadian's Half Moon Run have set the bar for the day, with smooth harmonies and a gracefulness that makes every instrument from drum to kazoo look like an elaborately choreographed move – more dancing than music-making.

Album Review: Foster The People - Supermodel (2014 LP)

To be honest, I did judge a book by its cover when it came to listening to Foster the People’s sophomore album. While I loved their catchy hooks and sing-a-long creations in Torches, what led me to pay particular attention to this release was the psychedelic touch on the album art, injected with colour, and the hint of something more to come in the music.

SXSW Live Review: Foster The People - Butler Park, Austin (14.03.14)

While badgeholders jump from intimate venue to intimate venue, the general public are given their share of SXSW experiences, too, from outdoor events like the Fader Fort, to badge-free events across the city. But nothing comes bigger than the free outdoor stage - which has moved to Butler Park as Auditorium Shores next door undergoes renovations. With massive artists like Snoop Dogg, Childish Gambino, Slash and more on the festival stage, tens of thousands come out to soak in the atmosphere of a more traditional festival atmosphere.
