Live Review: Foals + Formation - Kesselhaus, Berlin (08.09.15)

Foals returned to Berlin as part of their current European tour that took in a handful of shows to celebrate the release of What Went Down on Tuesday night, the penultimate gig on the Oxford band's calendar before heading off to South America. Crammed into Kesselhaus were local Berliners, international visitors like myself and people who'd come from elsewhere in Europe to see the boys perform what has definitely shaped up to be some of their heaviest material yet on the new album, not to mention cuts from their impressive catalogue.

Album Review: Foals - What Went Down (2015 LP)

Foals have just released their fourth studio album What Went Down and it seems that the two years in between their last LP Holy Fire and now has provided the perfect respite. Mixed reviews put a damper on Foals' track record with the last album, but whatever lilting, lack-lustre tunes that failed some reviewers in the past have been smoothed out with What Went Down for sure.

In This Issue: We have a huge month coming with plenty of local artists bringing their debuts to the table, some big big names returning and a stash of amazing album covers. With so much good music coming out you can almost hear the festival season approaching!

Leading the first artist announcement of the festival tour are Foals and Bloc Party, both British bands who have long enjoyed a successful relationship with fans in Australia.

In "What Went Down", Foals fans were treated to a visceral and ferocious new track from the British band, an exciting insight into what material has formed their forthcoming new record of the same name. It demonstrated a harder sound and arguably, the track has become regarded as one of their best compositions yet. Today, we get a taste of that classic sense of versatility that Foals have always been great at displaying through their music in new single, "Mountain At My Gates".

Foals share title track from fourth album "What Went Down"

Foals are finally ready to follow up their hugely popular 2013 album Holy Fire this August, with fourth LP What Went Down. Following the album's announcement earlier this week, the dominate UK band have now shared the six-minute title track.

Splendour Spotlight: 12 of our favourite performances from Splendour In The Grass 2014

The sound waves from Splendour In The Grass 2014 will be felt for a while, especially on a national scale as some of the weekend's greatest performances came from locals who took full advantage of the massive platform. Special anniversary performances from OutKast and Spiderbait, an emotional set from The Jezabels, and sets from Violent Soho and Phantogram, amongst others, really kicked things up a notch for Splendour, giving punters one of the best additions of the annual event. Chris was on ground to run around the festival and witness just some of these great performances; here are 10 of his favourites. Unfortunately, he is but one person, so much talked about sets from the likes of Childish Gambino, Hilltop Hoods, Tune-Yards, REMi and Angus & Julia Stone are not included.

Festival Review: Splendour in the Grass (Day Two) Ft. City and Colour + Foals + Future Islands (26.04.14)

Weather kept smiling upon us as we navigated North Byron Parklands for the second official day of Splendour In The Grass, with the expected rain lasting all but a few minutes, aside from the occasional, insignificant drizzle. As such, the bulk of the crowd remained at the open-air Ampitheatre for the final moments of the day, with a fantastic closing line-up of The Jezabels, Foals, and City and Colour, who each came close to stealing the show from Friday headliners OutKast. Very close, in Foals' case.

Two Door Cinema Club cancel Splendour In The Grass appearance; Foals fill the void.

Splendour In The Grass have confirmed reports that Alex Trimble of Two Door Cinema Club has been hospitalised due to falling ill, and as a result the band - scheduled to headline the Saturday of SITG - will no longer be able to perform.

Live Review: Foals + Alpine - The Tivoli, Brisbane (02.10.13)

It's a school night and one of Brisbane's biggest and best venues is sold out – this is something very few bands have been able to achieve in recent months. Such is the diverse appeal of English indie-rockers Foals that it's obvious this is one of those gigs that attracts people who don't often go to gigs. Hipsters too - lots and lots of hipsters.
