Katie Noonan is one of the most recognisable voices to come out of the Brisbane Music scene. Her new record Songbook is a reinvention of songs from her entire back catalogue, including songs from her days with band george, her trio Elixer, her solo material as well as Katie Noonan and the Captains. Taking things back to a more acoustic vibe, each reinvention features lush string arrangements and with added piano.

There have been a few changes since the last time we spoke. Read on brave listener, read on.

I've arrived and settled in at Woodfordia for this years Woodford Folk Festival. Needless to say, I haven't so much hemp clothing product in one location! Apart form all that fashion craziness, all has been quiet of the perfomance front, except from the odd poet and person on stilts. However, I'm sure that will all change soon enough today.

The 2011 lineup for the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz & Blues was announced last night, with an exciting program of international guests alongside the cream of Australia’s jazz and blues artists, in diverse musical collaborations and exclusive appearances across four days and nights, from Friday 28 October to Monday 31 October.

The day after Larry got back from Splendour in the Grass, he caught up with the one and only Katie Noonan - who was recovering herself from her stint on the red carpet at the Helpmann Awards. They went on to talk about Elbow at Splendour, working with STVDIO, the new Elixir album, touring with Ron Carter and more!

With Katie Noonan’s trio of 14 years Elixir about to release their long awaited second album First Seed Ripening, and in the wake of their recent national tour supporting the American jazz legend Ron Carter, the group have now announced that they will be heading out around the country to launch said exquisite new album.

Guests at the 9th Annual ASTRA Awards are in for a treat with musical performances scheduled by Australia’s celebrated R&B sensation Jessica Mauboy, powerful vocalist Katie Noonan’s Elixir Trio and up and coming indie artist Guineafowl.

Katie Noonan’s voice is so powerful, yet so delicate it’s hard to think about anything else than what is happening on stage. Elixir is a trio who have been one of Katie’s many musical projects in the jazz world ever since the festival rollicking days of george. Her voice is perfect to this style of low key intimate atmosphere and it’s amazing to see her career come to this point.
