Splendour in the Grass: Sunday feat. Coldplay, Pulp & Elbow (31.07.11)

In my final day of Splendour in the Grass for 2011, it was the main stage calling: with one of my favourite bands playing (Pulp), I was determined to get a spot early in the day. And so I did! But unfortunately this meant I was going to miss bands like Young The Giant, The Herd and Noah and the Whale - but that’s in the name of it isn’t it? Thankfully the main stage featured incredible musicians from start to finish.

Elbow + Matt Corby - Palace Theatre (27.07.11)

Matt Corby was the local support act tonight, tasked with opening the show at Melbourne’s Palace Theatre. Although the mostly 30 plus crowd, a strong contingent of whom seemed to be from Britain, largely didn’t know who the 20 year old singer was, there were murmurs of approval to be heard amongst the throng of the sold out venue.

Matt Corby to support Elbow at their Splendour sideshows

Having spent the first four months of 2011 playing headline shows in the UK and US, including multiple SOLD OUT shows in London and three shows at Austin’s SXSW festival, followed by two months of magical Secret Garden shows around NSW and Victoria, Matt Corby is delighted to be confirmed as the main support for the upcoming SOLD OUT Elbow shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Elbow announce their Splendour sideshows in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth

Guy Garvey will lead the Mancurian five piece in three headline shows this July- in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney - ahead of their appearance at Splendour In The Grass

This year Elbow have delivered another collection of lush, orchestral and typically graceful sounds, complimented by Garvey's gravelly, emotive vocals- 'Build A Rocket Boys!'.
