BIGSOUND Live: Highlights of Night Two - Part Two (10.09.15)

Hangovers reeling, tiredness setting in; though there’s no time to stop as the music keeps on spinning at BIGSOUND live round two. My second night started at The Zoo for I Know Leopard. Leopards in a zoo, I’m sure there is a pun in there somewhere. With their cosmic, ‘70s inspired, melancholic pop tunes the band tugged on heart strings of punters, providing merit for the heavy airplay their new single "Close My Eyes" is getting on Triple J. Sharp rhythms and soft melodies come together in a perfect marriage.

Live Review: Dorsal Fins - The Gasometer, Melbourne (27.03.15)

Noise rock is the heart of the Melbourne rock scene. Sorry, but it's the truth. While you have your Chet Fakers dominating the land of melancholy-subdued-sad boy-electronica and your Amity Afflictions doing whatever they're doing, the local scene is writhing with grimy garagey goodness. And of this goodness Dorsal Fins are arguably one of the best. A ten-piece trash masterpiece filled with members of both Saskwatch and Eagle and the Worm? It's not surprising that despite only finding themselves releasing their debut album Mind Renovation this year the band are dotting festival lineups all around.

New Music Video: Dorsal Fins "Mind Renovation" (2015)

Melbourne's Dorsal Fins will be having their debut album Mind Renovation as the Feature Album on triple j this week and to kick it all off, the talented 10 piece - yes, 10 - have given fans a new film clip for the album's lead single and title track. A kaleidoscopic trip out of a clip, the video for "Mind Renovation" is enticing, in that the richness and warmth of the horns and vocals on the single act as a perfect accompaniment for the visuals. Definitely one to get lost in.
