Delta Air Lines launch upgraded Boeing 777 for Sydney to L.A route

In an exciting update, Delta Air Lines have introduced some very substantial changes on board their refurbished Boeing 777 aircraft which flies daily between Sydney and Los Angeles.

The aircraft will now feature all four of Delta’s signature branded seat products, most excitedly lead by the award-winning “Delta One”, which is the first business class suite with its own private door to be made available between Australian and the U.S. The other classes include Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

Passengers flying Delta One (28 seats in total) can expect a full-height sliding door on their individual suite, no matter if they’re on the sides or the centre. Comfort will be enhanced with a 180-degree flat-bed seat with up to 24″ width, customisable ambient lighting, an am 18-inch high-res in-flight entertainment screen. Universal outlets and high-powered USB ports are provided for convenience.

Delta Premium Select (48 seats in total) should be a popular choice for those who want to pay a bit extra for a lot more comfort, given it is the airline’s new premium economy product and promises greater recline, a foot and leg rest, and improved online service plus a seat width of 19″. Passengers choosing this product can also expect their own TUMI amenity kit and LSTN noise-cancelling headphones.

Additional and important updates to the aircraft include a push-back against the industry-standard of ten-abreast seating. Here, the layout will now be nine-abreast seating, offering more room with 47cm wide Main Cabin seats (220 in total, each with a width of 18.5″), which are the widest Main Cabin seats of Delta’s international fleet.

Seat-back entertainment screens have been extended to each and every seat as well, giving access to the airline’s award-winning “Delta Studio” – their onboard entertainment hub.

Finally, the entire look of the interior has been updated with state-of-the-art features including full-spectrum LED ambient lighting, Gogo Ku Wi-Fi connectivity, free mobile messaging, and individual power ports available at every seat.

“Ten years since the launch of our service to Los Angeles, we’re upgrading the customer experience in a big way with our Boeing 777 aircraft and the Australia-U.S. debut of the award-winning Delta One suite,” said Delta’s Vice President (Los Angeles and West Sales) Scott Santoro. “Along with the suite, we’ve invested throughout the aircraft with the addition of Delta Premium Select and our commitment to offer nine-abreast seating in Main Cabin, so our customers will have a great experience no matter which product they choose”.

The upgrades will also improve the long standing partnership between Delta and Virgin Australia, who combined offer 25 weekly flights between Australia and the U.S and the ability to connect from more than 45 destinations across Australia and New Zealand to more than 250 destinations in the Americas.
