'Rock the Gate' - why one music concert is taking over Enmore Road this November.

This November, a stellar group of musicians are coming together in Sydney for what looks set to be a great day and night of live music. 'Rock the Gate', featuring the likes of Pete Murray and The Herd, will be taking over the Enmore Theatre on the 23rd, but the music is set to continue outside and down Enmore Road, with the busy cafe and business strip coming to the table and taking part in what's going to be a huge street party. This all sounds good, but why? Well, 'Rock the Gate' isn't just about providing Sydneysiders some good times on a Sunday, it's also about shedding light on and raising awareness about a serious issue many Australians now face, but may know little about.

the AU interview: David Bridie (Melbourne)

Veteran of the Melbourne music scene, David Bridie - well known for this work with My Friend The Chocolate Cake - took some time leading up to his extensive Australian tour to sit down with Larry, chatting about the old, the new, and Dr Seuss.

David Bridie's 'Wake' tour kicking off on June 14.

David Bridie’s fourth studio album Wake will be released on June 7th. To coincide with the release of Wake, David Bridie will be touring across Australia in June through to August.

"Shortest Day of the Year" is the fist single taken from David Bridie's forthcoming album Wake.

The single introduces the original mood David intended for the album: sparse, piano, melody, mood and texture. The song is described as a winter song, and was ironically written while David was on tour in Scotland on one of the longest days of the year, when it got dark at midnight.

Album Review: The Key Of Sea: Volume Two - Various Artists (2012)

When I first heard about the Key of Sea initiative, I was intrigued and excited. The Key of Sea is basically a compilation featuring collaborations between established Australian artists and extraordinary musicians, who have moved to Australia to escape war, hardship or persecution.

Event Review: BIGSOUND 2012 - (12.09.12 - 14.09.12)

As a vibrant, exciting and highly informative music conference that brings together a vast number of figures in the local and international music industry, Bigsound is an event well worth being a part of. Held at a range of venues and bars in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from last Wednesday to Friday, the Bigsound program was bursting with an array of interesting seminars and live performances, presenting attendees with some difficult decisions when it came to planning our schedules.
