CUB SPORT

Live Review: Andy Bull + Cub Sport + Lanks - The Gov, Adelaide (16.04.15)

If you've been even a casual follower of Andy Bull's career over the past few years, you'll know that even when he's not on tour, he's the type of musician to always have something on the go, something creative is always ticking away. We saw it when he made his return with "Keep on Running" in 2013 after taking some time away from playing shows off the back of the Phantom Pains EP. It signalled a shift in his creative direction and yet, instead of isolating fans, it intrigued and went onto be demonstrative of a textured musicality and knack for pop songwriting.

Andy Bull began his national tour at The Gov in Adelaide. While the weather was wet and cold outside, inside was warm and cosy. Lanks and Cub Sport were great support acts. Our photographer John Goodridge was there to capture a few snaps.

The Festival Diaries: CMJ Day Five Ft The Preatures, Bored Nothing, Hermitude + More - New York City (19.10.13)

The last day is here. I write this in a state of both sadness and joy, because I have seen so many great bands perform in front of pretty enthusiastic crowds. NYC really likes to cheer and woo for their entertainment, and it’ll be something I really miss from this city. Then again, I’m sitting here from home writing this while relaxing with a pillow behind my head instead of some busy Starbucks or windy park. It’s a welcome respite.

The Festival Diaries: CMJ Day Two Ft. Lily And The Parlour Tricks, ASTR, Cub Sport + More - New York City (16.10.13)

Considering that your dear writer was up until 1:25am last night, it would be good to assume that grogginess would take over on day two. But never fear! There is a feeling of invincibility in me at the moment. But it should be noted that there should be emphasis on the words 'at the moment'. Grogginess will take over sometime, but let us not dwell on that, there is music goodness to report on!

Live Review: Jinja Safari + Cub Sport - Karova Lounge, Ballarat (28.09.13)

Being the evening of the AFL Grand Final, it was a bit unpredictable as to whether many would venture out into the Ballarat nightlife or more specifically to Karova Lounge for some live music. This time last year was a huge night but mainly due to the homecoming of local favourites Gold Fields, so I was quite curious as to whether tonight would have a similar result with Jinja Safari in town for their Bays of Fire tour.

Live Review: BIGSOUND Live - Night 1 (11.09.13)

There is a magical time of the year, when all the stars align and the live music scene in Brisbane booms. This magical time of year is called BIGSOUND. Step 1: bring together industry gurus from all over the country and from across the seas and throw them together in a conference room for 4 days. Step 2: On the middle two nights, then bring them out for to party, and invite the people of Brisbane who love live music. Step 3: Watch the bliss unfold. This year BIGSOUND live boasted 120 acts over 12 glorious stages. This is a but snapshot of the two-night festival.
