Coda Conduct on the development of their live shows, their first BIGSOUND & more!

BIGSOUND brought some great names to Brisbane last week and we were stoked to have scored some time ahead of the showcases with them! Erica and Sally aka one of our new favourite hip hop acts in Coda Conduct, sat down with Larry on Wednesday to chat about how far they’ve come since their first show in a warehouse, to being catapulted onto a national stage with the opportunity Groovin’ the Moo afforded them, and more.

“Our first live set, we were told that we had a set before we had any music!” Erica laughs. “We went and wrote three songs, I think, we had a 15 minute set which was a lot for someone who didn’t have any music. It was, from memory, in a weird warehouse and there were a couple of people there, maybe six? We played these songs that we had just written and we forgot some words, so today, I would hope that our performance is a lot different!”

“We’ve been doing live gigs for a couple of years now,” Sally adds. “That was how we kinda cut our teeth in music, but we only put our first semi-professionally recorded release out last year. It’s really only been 18 months since we had any music online and that last 18 months have been crazy because obviously, it exposes you to a much wider audience other than just that 50 to 100 people you manage to get in front of on a lineup, or the 10 people you manage to get on a lineup, depending!”

A duo definitely on the rise, cop a listen of the girls’ latest single, “Usually I’m Cool”, to get a feel of the type of vibe they’re rocking with.
