CLASSIXX

the AU interview: Tyler Blake of Classixx (LA) discusses Harbourlife 2014!

By the same guys who brought you Field Day and Listen Out, Fuzzy bring a House spectacular to Sydneysiders with the recent success of the music festival Harbourlife. It started its inception into the timetable of annual festivals over ten years ago and now boasts a solid line-up each year of renowned artists as well as up and coming chart toppers.

Festival Review: Harbourlife - Mrs Macquarie's Point, Sydney (08.11.14)

As advertised, 2014 Harbourlife was all about the House music. Packed from the moment it started to the moment it finished, the influence of bass was ever present. The venue was as per usual absolutely stunning. The backdrop of Sydney harbour is iconic and the weather was top notch to support it, making for a great day to host a party.

Dusky, Classixx, Miguel Campbell and more announced for Harbourlife 2014!

Sydney's favourite waterside party, Harbourlife, returns in 2014 for another day of antics with the amazing view of the Sydney Harbour as a backdrop. Who wouldn't want to be involved? This year's line up continues Harbourlife's legacy of bringing good vibes, good beats and a great array of artists to the harbourside and as we look ahead to what is shaping up to be a killer summer season, what a perfect way to kick everything off.

Chet Faker included on the lineup for San Francisco's Treasure Island Festival!

The full line-up for San Francisco's Treasure Island Festival has been announced! The two day festival is held at an island that is (seriously) called Treasure Island, with headliners OutKast and Massive Attack taking the helm for both nights. Melbourne's own Chet Faker has been announced on the line-up, which also includes TV on the Radio, The New Pornographers, Alt-J and Janelle Monáe. Treasure Island takes place from 18-19 October, and the rest of the gem-studded line-up is below.

Five Acts You Probably Didn't See at Governor's Ball in New York City But Should Have...

It's already been a week since The Governor's Ball took over New York City's Randall Island, with OutKast, The Strokes, Jack White and many more gracing the festival's stages. But what about the bands who didn't close the three night event out? Our Aussie-based-in-NYC writer Rishe Groner was at the event (you can read her more extensive coverage HERE) and brings us her five "discoveries" of the festival - or: the five acts who you probably shouldn't have missed last weekend...

10 reasons to get up early and to go Governor's Ball before Noon (this means you, Loren).

Kicking off on Friday, this year’s Governor’s Ball lineup is as stacked as a fluoro-tube-top-wearing rave Jersey girl, and that includes the wee little hot pants, because it’s stacked at the bottom as well. It’s not just about the biggies, though Outkast, Vampire Weekend and Skrillex are certainly the drawcards over here (see my picks in the article five of the acts you can't miss). Here’s the top ten reasons I’ll be getting up early to arrive for the midday sets – and dragging my friends accordingly, to whom I have dedicated this very handy post.

Ian Laidlaw was down at the Royal Botanic Gardens to cover the Listen Out Festival in Melbourne! So many great acts over the day - check out the gallery here!

the AU interview: Classixx (Los Angeles) at Listen Out (Sydney, 2013)

Larry sits down with LA duo CLASSIXX at Listen Out Festival in Sydney, Australia. Talking about what they've been up to in the last month, playing the event in Australia, what the rest of 2013 will be holding for the band, things they weren't proud of in the early days and much more...

the AU interview: Michael David of Classixx (California)

Fresh from the stage of the FYF Fest in LA, Michael David of Classixx took the time to chat with Larry about the duo's new record, meat pies and their upcoming trip to Australia as part of the Listen Out parties.

Listen Out reveals first line up announcement!

It was unfortunately announced last week that there would be no more Parklife festival. Alas, there is something new to get excited about – Listen Out! Something to remember about Listen Out; it’s a dance party, not a festival, and it’s not to be missed.

The first line-up for the event has been announced:
Disclosure (LIVE)
Azealia Banks
TNGHT (LIVE)
Hudson Mohawke & Lunice
Duke Dumont
Alunageorge
Classixx (LIVE)

Album Review: CLASSIXX - The Hanging Gardens (2013 LP)

CLASSIXX - The Hanging Garden

Los Angeles Duo Michael David and Tyler Blake came to attention producing high profile remixes for acts including Phoenix and Holy Ghost. In 2009 they released breakout hit 'I’ll Get You', a bullet of pure pop joy that featured guest vocals from Jeppe of Junior Senior fame. Four years on and they have produced their debut album. While a four year layover is pretty standard fare in electronic music, there’s an expectation for something new, or at least a refining of their core sound.

the AU interview: Michael David of Classixx (Los Angeles)

After two years and hundreds of songs, DJ duo Classixx are about to release their long awaited debut album. While In Australia for a one-off show, Larry Heath talked to Michael David about the album, plans for the future, and their favourite releases of 2012.

Sydney Festival Photo Gallery and Live Review: Lindstrøm + Classixx + Mitzi - Paradiso at Sydney Town Hall (26.01.13)

For many punters, Saturday night was not the first time walking into Sydney Town Hall's Paradiso. The pop-up venue had been open for a week now, and many had already taken advantage of the beautiful historical space, either at a paying gig, or at the "free in paradiso" events. The venue never ceases to amaze however, and it is hoped that the city will continue to use the potential of this room in the future.

Filter Magazine's Culture Collide Festival Day Three feat. CSS + The Elected + Cameras + Sparkadia + More - Echo Park, Los Angeles (08.10.11)

My third night at Culture Collide was a rather brief affair due to other engagements, but I got to catch some fantastic performances from a couple of bands I know very well, and a couple others I didn't know much about at all...
