Last year was huge for Citizen Kay, with the release of his debut album With The People. A fusion of hip-hop and soul, his album explored the musical passions, life experiences and insights through grooves of funk and reflective rhymes. The first single “Wax On Wax Off” initiated his soulful hip-hop mood, and was confirmed by “Life Gives You Lemons”, honking sax riff over a pumping funk back beat. “Lemons” was also featured on a slamming session of TripleJ’s ‘Like A Version’ that helped mesh the Commodores, Kanye and Mark Ronson for a fesh take on “Uptown Funk”.
Citizen Kay accompanied Illy on his national tour, following notable tours with Wiz Khalifa, Earl Sweatshirt & Danny Brown, Ice Cube and Seth Sentry.
Presented by Select Music and Asphalt Records, Citizen Kay will showcase his new single Our World in his Aussie tour, supported by special guests Genesis Oqusu and triple J High School Finalist, who has just released his new single ‘Drive Slow’ from his forthcoming debut EP.
