There are plenty of festivals and live music events happening this weekend, notably VIVID in Sydney, where there's such a number of eclectic and talented musicians converging on the Harbour City for some truly stand out events. While it's obviously going to be a huge drawcard for Sydneysiders, we take a look at some other shows we're looking forward to around the joint this weekend!

Taking place in Aruba this September is EDM-loving The Electric Festival who have just announced who will be joining Chuckie, Slash and Hardwell this summer.

Hobart's winter festival DARK MOFO celebrated its closing with a party dubbed "Satanalia", featuring a blend of Australian and International bands of a dark, brooding manner, including Mono (Pictured), Boris and The Drones, capping off a most eclectic and diverse arts and cultural festival. Following an outstanding response to their 2012 Australian tour, Japanese three-piece Boris will return to Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart and Perth to play their classic cult album, Flood plus other popular tracks from their decorated career. Melbourne’s instrumental chill champions Margins will join the Boris at the Corner Hotel, while Dead China Doll will bring their “throbbing, heavy synth lines” to Sydney’s Manning Bar show.

Japanese trio Boris have announced a return to Australia, following on from their massively successful debut of the country last year. Dig It Up! Brisbane and Perth sell out

The Perth leg of Dig It Up! The Hoodoo Gurus Invitational has now sold-out. The Perth event which also features Redd Kross & The Fleshtones, joins the Brisbane Dig It Up! in selling out its allocation well in advance of the show date.

Boris announce Australian tour for March 2012

Most recently seen on our shores in 2010 playing two sold out shows at Sydney’s Vivid Festival, Japanese quartet Boris will be returning to Australia to visit the entire east coast in March, 2012.

Boris have long been celebrated for their ability to reinterpret a multitude of musical genres into a sound of their own, and revered for rattling concert-goers to the core, with their high-volume intensity and colossal crescendos.
